Aang (Season 1) vs Korra (Season 1)

In this battle, Aang and Korra will go head to head yet again

However, to make things more interesting, both Avatars will be limited to their first books only. First book elements, first book feats, first book skills, first book fighting styles, etc.

• No Avatar State, no energybending or airbending for Korra

Fight takes place in the Crystal Catacombs. Starting distance is 25 feet.

Both are completely in character, as they were in Book 1.

Any reasons?

Aang has Korra beat in raw bending power, and in Season 1 she was very headstrong and quick to anger which would work to her disadvantage.

Going with Aang for a majority.

Korra has Aang beat in versatility. Book 1 Aang wasn't always the greatest fighter and tended to hold back

I actually think Korra can take it. Aang in S1 knew only air bending and water bending. Korra has a huge advantage of earth bending(which would be decisive IMO.) Even though she didn't know air bending, her knowledge of earth and fire bending more than makes up for it.

He didn't hold back all the time. He beat Zuko decisively everytime they went at it, and he went all-out against Bumi. Korra's lack of restraint made her a less than great fighter at times as well.

Korra didn't show much versatility with earth and fire in season 1, in fact all she did with fire was create fire blasts. Her best showing for water was the water spout, Aang's showed greater and more varied moves with just one element.

He and Zuko had a pretty even fight in Bato of the Water Tribe, and he only went all out against Bumi because he had to, and Bumi was holding back to test him

Creating fire blasts is pretty much what you do with firebending, but fair point.

Aang. He wasn't as diverse as Korra....but he was far more powerful. This fight would go like some of Korra's lesser showings against the faster equalist. She can't tag Aang and we've seen that when pushed he'll get serious while Korra in season 1 would get frustrated.

is this battle between the two is it a battle of skill/power or popularity because Korra in season 1 knew pretty much all the elements and I believe the avatar state the only thing she sucked at was air bending and on the other hand aang only knew air bending the only thing aang had on korra in season 1 is he was more focused and prepared to fight while korra was all over the place and got her butt handed to her by everyone especially all the way up to the newest season. so if we are talking raw power korra if we are talking about skill aang.But if we are talking about popularity im going to have to go with aang on this one.

@arcus: well my reasoning for aang to win is because when it came to fights he usually fought people who were better and stronger than him/ more focused and was usually able to get away or beat them as to were korra in the first season pretty much got owned by everybody she fought also she was really not focused in most of her fights in season one that is present in the newest season even though korra has more power than aang shes really not focused and sloppy in fighting

@arcus: Korra has a lot more versatility with the elements, but Aang far outclasses her in raw power and also has a huge amount of versatility with air bending alone, and is far more agile so can dodge most of her attacks. Also Aang has fought a moon buster.

Korra should win. More elements to choose from, physically stronger, and still pretty evasive and agile for a non-airbender. Aang also wasn't a very good fighter in book 1. He only got decisive victories over Fire Nation fodder, chumps like Admiral Zhao, and Zuko back when all he knew were the basic firebending forms. He has a lot of raw power, but he never really used that power in a combat situation aside from one time against King Bumi, which hardly makes it consistent.

Meanwhile Korra was able to take down master chi blocker in the Lieutenant and a waterbending master in Tarrlock. She absolutely destroyed everyone she went up against in a fight save for a single encounter with chi blockers before she knew what chi blockers were.

oh yeah, put the avatar with only ONE element against the avatar with THREE elements, yeah that's brilliant!!!!!

@johnfrank120: this is true, he has fought a moon buster @shadowpro: Aang's got some of his best feats from Season 1, with air, his best element@mr_top_hat: the only person stronger than Aang in the first season was Bumi, and he was just testing Aang. I don't remember Korra getting owned by everyone

@arcus: you have admiral zhao and zuko who at the time were no pushes over and aang was always out smarted them time after time to were as season one korra really only had amon (if that's how you spell his name) who out smarted her on multiple occasions and proved that when it comes to fighting korra is not usually on her best A game when aang usually fights he is usually more focused. I know this is not season one but the only time aang was really distracted was when he had to let go of Katara to go into the avatar state that was really the only time aang was knocked truly off of his game and was put down. But as for korra she struggled to fight Amon and kovira (minus the exception that she was on her off game because of her previous battle with zaheer )even when she had what it took to beat them.IMO when it comes to raw power korra flat outs beats aang in season 1 but in season 1 aang displayed to be a better fight who can think on his feet(in the many fight with zuko and with bumi) and usually he is more focused(that was one of her flaws in season 1)

@mr_top_hat: you can't homestly compare Zuko and Zhao to Amon, in any way. Amon would destroy Zuko and Zhao

LoL but Na im not comparing them as if i was saying that in a flat out fight that zuko and zhao are better than amon i am saying for their enemies in season 1 and how they delt with them aang has proven to be a better fighter and being able to think on his feet to were as korra not so much all she had was raw power and that is not a winning factor in a fight

@mr_top_hat: lol, but seriously, Amon's more tactical and a far more dangerous opponent in every way than Zuko or Zhao ever were. Power's always a factor in a fight, and it's not like Korra's stupid in fights

I actually think Korra can take it. The only way aang can win is full powered air to the face

Anyway, here are some more feats of Korra in Book 1

Korra. Aang wasn't even a true master in waterbending by the end of book 1...I think Katara said in one of the later books that he could actually still use some work. On the other hand, Korra has already mastered (with the actual approval of her masters lol) Earth, Water, and Fire. And even though she doesn't know airbending, she usually works offense, and airbending is usually a defensive element, so I don't think airbending would be much to her advantage in this case anyways.

@arcus: oh yeah, and those can be compared with all the 3 element feats she has from sesaon 1, you know the three elements she mastered

A number of people have been making arguments for Aang. Based solely on book 1 feats, I wouldn't say she had mastered any of the elements individually to the level of mastery of air Aang showed in Book 1

@arcus: I wanna just say Aang, but most of my replys in Korra vs stuff has Korra on the losing side. Cuz I'm biased.

@dreadpool10: ah, ok @mr_top_hat: she didn't lose to the fire bending masters, the triple threat triad, the Lieutenant, Tarrlok (until he pulled out hax bloodbending), she almost always did well in probending. She lost to chi blockers once and got ambushed another time, and she lost once to the mecha tanks. Other than Amon, that's pretty much it

Aang wins. He is more skilled than Korra and is a better overall Avatar.

Remember this is just season 1 versions. What makes him more skilled/better that lets him win the fight?

Could go either way, due to the fact Korra has more durability imo, while aang has more agility.
