Poll: Who is your favorite Bat-family character besides Batman? (157 votes)

Nightwing 39%
Red Hood 20%
Red Robin 9%
Robin (Damian Wayne) 13%
Batgirl 8%
Other 11%

Notice I left out Batwoman, Batwing, Cassandra Cain and Talon as they are only supporting characters at this point.

Nightwing all the way.

Damian > Barbara > Dick > Tim > Jason. That's how it goes for me.

#3 Posted by joshmightbe (24768 posts) - - Show Bio

Nightwing, in fact I like him more than Batman

#4 Posted by Dark_Vengeance_ (15132 posts) - - Show Bio

Damian for me.

Barbara as Oracle

I really like Nightwing.

Really guys, no one for Tim?

I also like Nightwing more than Batman.

A tie between nightwing and red hood.

#10 Posted by Extremis (3363 posts) - - Show Bio

Wow, Nightwing pulling out half the votes. Poor Batgirl. She didn't get any votes on my Favorite Bat-family Title thread either.

#11 Posted by SupBatz (1855 posts) - - Show Bio

Damian > Nightwing > Red Hood > Batgirl > Red Robin.

If we're taking all of their character histories into consideration and not just current iterations:
Oracle > Damian > Nightwing > Red Robin > Red Hood

Again, Tim Drake from before the New 52.

I'm going with the less popular vote and say:

Barbara, then Nightwing, then Red Hood, then Red Robin, then Damian

I like all of them tho

Who's this "Other" character? ;)

#15 Posted by InnerVenom123 (29510 posts) - - Show Bio

Damian.

#16 Posted by thejman251 (435 posts) - - Show Bio

- Jason however, the question in the OP doesn't actually apply as Batman(Bruce) definitely isn't my favorite character in any light.

#17 Posted by Twentyfive (2845 posts) - - Show Bio

For me, its Batman > Barbara > everyone else!

Red hood, though my favorite is Terry cause he's beyond batman

Nightwing, or just Dick Grayson in general. His stint as Batman is something I miss greatly.

Lucky with the current Teen Titan's plot his personality might just be stupid because of the demonic manipulation. /crosses fingers

I should ban you for leaving out Cassandra Cain ;P j/p

#22 Posted by The_Tree (7990 posts) - - Show Bio

@teerack: One can only hope. I still won't be satisfied, though. Not until his terrible new origin and the "he was never Robin" thing gets retconned.

#23 Posted by Teerack (7461 posts) - - Show Bio

@the_tree: He still worked as batman's partner. I never understood why people cared that Tim put Red in front of his name from the start.

#24 Posted by The_Tree (7990 posts) - - Show Bio

@teerack: I personally don't like it because with him being Red Robin the whole time, it takes away the weight that came with him stepping out on his own. Tim had pretty much everything he cared about stripped from him after Bruce's death, so Red Robin became his way of starting anew, becoming his own man. I took it as just as much a graduation from the title of Robin, as I do Dick with Nightwing.

How can anyone NOT vote Dickie?

QFT. If Lobell had some tangible reason for the change he made to Tim's history I might be less annoyed by it but I honestly cannot conceive of a single reason that he might have made the change. It doesn't add anything to the character. If anything it only takes away from him conceptually.

Nightwing and Damian, They are very good allies for Batman.

#28 Posted by Alak (928 posts) - - Show Bio

Voted Nightwing. I grew up watching Bruce Timm's BTAS and TNBA, so Dick Grayson's always been my favorite in the bat-family. Special shout out to Alfred, though. He's definitely family imo.

Alfred

#30 Posted by Alak (928 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm honestly surprised that Damian is more popular than both Jason and Tim.

Who's this "Other" character? ;)

Well, whenever conducting a survey/poll one should always give people exhaustive choices (For instance, I wouldnt ask people's favorite color then list only the colors ROYGBIV. There's also Red-orange, fuschia, gold, etc. Hence the need for an "other" category). In this case I realized some people could pick someone like, say, Alfred. Though he's not a superhero he is a Bat-family character and caregiver to Bruce.

DC and its writers have done a GREAT job making all these bat family characters very interesting. It's not just as simple as Bruce and Dick anymore. I actually think the best thing DC has going for it right now is the amount of Bat books they currently have. I feel like theres just as many Bat books or more as there are X-men titles. Now that is saying something.

#33 Posted by Lone_Wolf_and_Cub (5331 posts) - - Show Bio

@Extremis I know. I'm just yanking your chain. ;)

Supporting characters? They have/had their own books.

I've always loved Tim, but things really aren't going well for him in the New 52. Nightwing is a close second, though.

#37 Edited by ULTRAstarkiller (6518 posts) - - Show Bio

Red Hood he's the most awesome character besides Batman, Nightwing is a very close second.

#38 Posted by SupremeHyperion (1545 posts) - - Show Bio

They are all pretty much the same thing, atleast Batgirl is nice to look at...

Damian

Besides Batman, Nightwing is my favorite Bat-Family character; however, including Batman, Nightwing is still my favorite Bat-Family character.

#41 Posted by MadeinBangladesh (8091 posts) - - Show Bio

Barbara is my pick.

#42 Posted by Crom-Cruach (8869 posts) - - Show Bio

Cassandra Cain don't care what everyone says

#43 Posted by novi_homines (1338 posts) - - Show Bio

no batwoman?

#44 Posted by Extremis (3363 posts) - - Show Bio

She's not a member of the bat family

#45 Edited by spidermonkey2099 (615 posts) - - Show Bio

Nightwing, though Batgirl is a close second.

Well Damian was part of the Bat family in the new 52. And judging by the response, hes a lot of peoples favorite character.

What living characters in the new 52 did I leave out that are in the Bat familly hmmmm?

#48 Posted by batshrine (1001 posts) - - Show Bio

@extremis: Well the ones you mentioned but mostly Batwing. Sure Luke was just recently brought in, but I think he officially counts. He is going to work closely with Bruce, so I don't see why not include him.

It should not matter, the other category is there for the ones not included.
