Agree 100% I feel that before Zero Year the Riddler was always sort of a lower-tier villain, but Scott Snyder was able to actually make him formidable. I dismiss the other times that he was "a threat," because those stories were centered around sloppy storytelling *cough cough Hush*

Zero Year showed how much of a threat he is, so new 52 for sure not even close.

Arkham one just makes you do easy tasks.

Between the Riddler from Arkham Asylum and Zero Year.

@perchance2dream: I think you're taking it a little easy on Hush. I don't even think Hush had a story, just poorly tied together events because Jim Lee needed to draw more Batman characters.

The Batman one was pretty good, barring his ridiculous get up. I'm even tempted to say that he was the best, the Arkham version was just an annoying f*ck.

Agreed. Ignoring the fact that he looked like an anorexic emo, character development wise he was literally the most interesting and fascinating. His back-story and past (I think it was revealed in the fourth season), at the end of the day, made him far more complex and tragic than just some obsessive megalomaniac.

The Arkham version isn't bad, in a sense that he is actually very formidable, but the incarnation and personality the writers went with made him far too childish. He can genuinely challenge batman, and for the most part he sticks to his rules, but his approach just annoys the literal f*ck out of you. That was the intention, but still.
