The first issue of the Dark Knight Returns is my all time favorite Batman issue! Is it okay that it's out of continuity?

My favorite of the New 52 is probably issue 5 because of how trippy it was. Those inverted pages beautifully reflected Bruce's struggle with his sanity.

Pre-New 52 - something from Black Glove, RIP, or Batman & Robin. Something from Snyder's pre-New 52 run is up there, too. Possibly Under the Hood. Paul Jenkins had a nice issue w/ Jae Lee. But it probably wouldn't take the #1 spot...

New 52 - probably the weird format issue in the Court of Owls arc. #5 I guess from the post above. maybe one of the B&... issues post-Damian's Death. Or something from Batman, Inc...

For new 52, I have three favorites:

• #5-Batman in the Labyrinth
• #6-Batman fighting the Talon
