New 'Batman: Arkham Knight' Trailer and Screenshots

Surely you've heard about the return of Batman (and Rocksteady). Batman: Arkham Knight will have Batman fighting Scarecrow as he makes his return to Gotham. Scarecrow is planning on uniting Batman's rogues gallery to destroy Batman once and for all. This is, after all, the "explosive finale" to the Arkham series, according to the press release.

It's up to Batman to "Even the Odds" by taking the Batmobile out for a spin. Check out the new gameplay trailer.

If that trailer wasn't enough, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment also sent us some screenshots.

Batman: Arkham Knight is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license and will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set for an October 14, 2014 release.

My biggest fear is that they focus so much on the car, the rest of the gameplay is entirely the same. Honestly, that's all they are really talking about. I know the game is in it's early stages but so far all they really advertise is that damn batmobile. I'm more concerned about the combat and other characters set to appear.

@torzone: I'm betting that most of the new stuff will be tied up in the car, but it sounds like they are implementing the car in a really seamless way. You call the car, hop in, drive somewhere, launch out into a glide, beat up some thugs on a rooftop, and drop back into the car on the street below. Plus, there are some car chases and stuff specifically designed for it, and I think I read somewhere that it has its own upgrade path.

Oh, and you can use some gadgets while gliding, so that combined with the Batmobile probably means that moving around the city and taking out baddies on the way should be super satisfying. But, other than a new gadget or two, I'm betting the combat and stealth stuff stays mostly the same.

Looks very pretty, but I really hope they bring more to the table than just the Batmobile, because everything was just so stale by Origins.

This looks really good, I wish I didn't have to give up console gaming.

Origins was made by a different company, and this game has been in development for 3 years, so I think it will be good.

It's common in game marketing for the initial focus to be placed on a wholly new mechanic rather than refined or upgraded old ones.

Not enough actual gameplay or story details (though I can kind of understand them keeping quiet on that one). Still excited though. Now all I need is a console that can play it.

Just finished reading the end of forever evil. I am definitely worried that Johns has taken over the Arkham story. The entire FE arc was Lex doing everything that Batman usually does, with his gear. And Batman was a whining emo clown. Again.

I have completely given up on Justice titles with him writing them. And I do not have the disposable income to risk on this game when it first comes out. If someone reviews it and shows that the gameplay and story are as good as the first two them ok.

Hate the Costume, it gets more ridiculous every game, its as if Batman has Ironman envy. Like he finally got around to watching the first Ironman movie and immediately afterwards storms down into the Batcave blaring Black Sabbath and is like ....

Bruce: "It needs more tech, and gears."

Alfred: "But, sir your other costume is fine."

Bruce: "No, shut up Alfred, you're too stupid and old to know anything. OH! lets make the wrist blades flip out, that'd be so freaking COOL!"
