Is Batman a samurai or a ninja?

I think that he uses the tactics of a ninja but he has the spirit of Samurai.

There was one Elseworlds story where Bruce is a Japanese man who calls himself the Bat-Samurai.

But in mainstream comics, yes he is a ninja with the heart of a samurai.

He is ninja but Nightwing is better exemple what is true ninja.

He doesnt kill

He doesnt blend into the shadow

He tries to not be spotted and public doesnt have correct idea what he suposed to be or look alike.

His collour seems to be alike Ninja Outfits like Grey,Blue,Black

Skills: Disguise, Martial Arts, Stealth

Equipmment: Ninja Stars alike Weapons, Smokebombs

But he some point against like

Heavy Armor

He seems to be very muscular compared to Ninja

He possess some weapons that give away his localization like Sonic Devices and heavy weapons.

Too damn rich for a ninja

In the comics, Bruce Wayne sensei is Samurai

@vivide: Since when are samurai rich?

@mandarinestro: they belong to a nobility class (military), ninja are farmers who rose up against them (most of their equipment are farming tool)

@maccyd: The everyday soldier though, many of them are recruited peasants. The knights were their commanders.

@mandarinestro: I think it functioned somewhat similar in Japan. Ashigaru is the term for Japanese peasant soldiers, if you ever see the term.

Calling Batman either a ninja or a samurai shows a lack of understanding for either of these things.

Perhaps break-down the social, Geo-political, philosophical, and geographical dichotomies and how the West bastardized the perception of both factions, but come on man hahah aint nobody trying to hear all that. Uh no, ninjas are assassins. Batman isn't an assassin. Samurai are soldiers. Batman isn't a soldier.

@jonny_anonymous: Uh, no. Ninja's are, were, Covert Agents, or Mercs, or Assassins. The only aspect of a Ninja that Batman doesnt adhere to, is killing. But espionage, sabotage, infiltration are all aspects that he does adhere to. Trained by Ninjas, fights with their weapons and techniques, studies and observes their rituals, but doesnt kill. If that disqualifies him then its a split hair and in no way means people lack the fundamentals of a ninja by calling him one.

And one could argue that Batman is in fact a soldier in his own war on crime. And before you run off to snag the "official" definition of Soldier, don't bother lol.

Regardless, breaking down Ninja's and Samurai to their simplest form is ironically what your previous post claimed the rest of us were doing, lacking understanding ;)

He is a well-rounded ninja. His tools, his resourcefulness, his patience, his discipline, and his skill are more comparable to that of a ninja.
