As you're probably aware, there's a new show coming to Fox next fall called Gotham. Centered in Gotham City, years before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, we'll see Jim Gordon's journey to becoming Commissioner.

An extended trailer has been released.

What'd ya think? We'll have to stay tuned for more information and an official start date.

Why would they make a Batman show with no Batman??

@cattlebattle: it's not meant to be a Batman show

Could have fooled me, seeing as it's filled with Batman's supporting cast and all.

I like this. I had to go with a different mindset than Arrow.

I like that they are for a really dark and grim look at the city. It makes sense for Marvel to keep their shows/movies light and DC go for a darker feel. That way everyone has something they like and it doesn't feel like they are going over the same territory repeatedly.

Oh Snap that was sweet! Quite psyched for this now.

Yikes. This looks kitschy as all hell. But not in the fun, self-aware way. In the I'm-super-serious-but-this-is-still-network-television way.

Why would they make a Batman show with no Batman??

Because Gotham City is more than just a setting for Batman's escapades. In the best Batman stories, the city is a character in it's own right. A living breathing entity and Batman is it's will to survive made manifest. Crime is the city's cancer, Batman is the scalpel to cut it loose.

#16 Posted by JonSmith (3988 posts) - - Show Bio

... It looks good. But it also looks like an internet fanmade series, ala The Joker Blogs.

I was worried this would stink, and it still might, but that trailer was fantastic. Can't wait.

Man I hope they keep the Batman nod stuff to a minimum because a GCPD show in and of itself would be dramatically interesting.

"I love this city, and i see it going to hell". Was there ever a time where it wasn't going to hell?

I like what I see. Now give that man a mustache.

Seriously why people in the DC universe decide to live in Gotham? Even the name tells you is a bad city.

Looks pretty good to me. Not sure about all the villains being kids, but I'm willing to see what they do with it. I didn't think I'd like Arrow and now it's my favourite TV show :)

I was not excited about this at first, after all, making a superhero show without superheroes proved problematic for Agents of SHIELD....but damn, this looks good.

Well color me intrigued. I'm a tad disappointed that Bullock's accent isn't as exaggerated as it could be. But everything else looks like it's bursting with potential. Looking forward to the Fall.

My only complaints are.........

1 It's going to be tough for me to see Gordon as something other than the guy from that teen show.

They would win a loyal viewer just for laughs if at some point they asked where Gordon transferred from and they say the O.C. :p

2 Some of it looks like it was fanmade but that might just be because it's the pilot. Not all pilots have the same quality as the series.

Other than that I'm going to give it a good chance. I'm hoping it works out.

EDIT: Though this being a fox show I'm not getting my hopes up of it lasting beyond the first season. Terrible track record of cutting shows down.

So what, they should just make original characters for a show set in pre-Batman's Gotham?

Why do people still live in New York City in the Marvel universe?, with all the alien invasions, monster attacks, and hero/villain battles.

When Gohan didn't have supervillains.

The only villain that's a kid is Poison Ivy and Catwoman is a teenager.

It looks alright, seems really melodramatic like a slightly less morbid following. The biggest thing that worries me is that it's on Fox and its not like they have not cancelled shows for no reason before.

@dernman: go watch Southland and try to see Ben Mckenzie as anything but Ben Sherman

By "kid" I just meant young. I'm 35 so I call anyone younger than 21 a kid :)

This is.............. Surprisingly good! Batman's rogues are all so fascinating, even before they become who we know them as, that this could easily work as a series. Just the psychology of them alone

Jim Gordon fighting the fight that Bruce Wayne will eventually take on, trying to stand for justice in a city that revels in lawlessness, is a perfect way to go. I had my doubts, but seeing this trailer? Yeah I'm excited for it.

Also as a Riddler fan, I gotta say it will be interesting to see what they do with a younger Edward Nigma.

I tried the first few episodes. Couldn't get into it. Nothing to do with the actor. It just didn't pull me in.

Nah it seemed pretty hellish before that also. It just wasn't as flashy.

I don't usually agree with casting choices but they did pretty good here. I'm assuming they darkened her hair because she was lighter but I wish they went darker.

You know what, people have been dying for a live action Batman series for years, and I am really excited for this. Even if it was going to be a straight GCPD procedural drama, it would still have nods to Batman and his rogues gallery. Only thing I am worried about is skinny and tall Oswald Cobblepot. Not really a fan of that, but the rest has me really pumped for this. Wondering who Jada Pinkett-Smith is too and how they will incorporate the Joker in, cause...come on you have to have Joker.

The only "hellishines" that was in Gotham was police, corporate, and political correction, and organized crime.

This reminds me a lot of that awful script that leaked several months ago. So... not good.

I never get excited over any tv show trailers. I will say this looks promising though. I can see a ton of potential there.

This looks a lot better than I had expected it to look. Will definitely be hitting up FOX's website every week to watch the latest episode once it airs.

This was a great wording personifying what Gotham is. Sorry, just had to give you props on that.

Which was on hyper presented scale. Which was more than enough. The bad controlled everything and the city was rotting from the inside out. It's what gave us Batman not just his parents being murdered.

Though if you look at it another way supervillains were there long before Batman. Since the city was belong to other heroes before Batman at least post crisis.
