we all grow up reading Batman as Bruce Wayne's Alter-ego....but there is one truth about us human beings....we Grow old and easily get tired and Bruce's is a man.....so do you want him to retire as batman????
Do you want Bruce Wayne to retire as Batman???
We've already seen Bruce retire a few times, mainly in Batman Beyond, currently, he can stay right where he's at, in the cowl and cape.
It would be a cool story if instead of dieing on Earth 2 he would have retired and Dick became Bats. I'd be happy with that!
Never, he isnt a legacy character, so there is no point in making this.
Also, lets face it as much as people wsay it, Dick was horrible as Batman, Jason was to damn dark as Batman, Tim was a failure as Batman, Damian is a Bruce clone as Batman and Terry is Batman Beyond or from the future.
There is no way to change the fact Bruce is Batman and Batman is Bruce.

I just wanted to comment that I thought Dick was a fun Batman. It felt like a natural transition.
@DeathpooltheT1000: Just out of curiousity, when was Tim batman?
I thought Dick as Batman was great, but we all knew it wasn't going to be permanent
@GrandHarrier: He never became Batman, being Batman isnt only using a suit, is about the personallity and how much you will push yourself.
Dick isnt Bruce, he is never going to push himself enough to be Batman.
@TheJSquad34: Battle for the cowl, Jason was using the suit and then Tim decide to use it, the last one was Dick.
It's always interesting to see other people fill the role for a while, such as when Dick recently took over. However, Bruce is Batman and should always be Batman. There is no reason for him to retire when he does not physically age. Else-worlds and future glimpses can always be used to satisfy people who are looking for a change to break the monotony (not that Bruce is ever monotonous)
In the stories. No.
But as a fan, I do want Bruce to have the ability to retire and have a happy ending.

F*CK NO! He is the only batman and he is awesome
No I don't want Bruce to retire as Batman ever. Having him retire in an alt universe like Earth 2 maybe but the main universe can't have Bruce Wayne retire as Batman; it would not be the same.
It doesn't really matter what we want, it's never going to happen.
But if by some miracle that it does happen, I think Bane could make a good Batman. Cassandra Cain could take Batman's place too if they ever bothered giving her the necessary education.
I wouldn't be completely against the idea, but I'd go into the idea very skeptically, to say the least. I think they are much better off with the routes they have gone with other characters temporarily picking up the mantle, and visiting other times or worlds where you can see how the world does with the Batman legacy.
But they could never really replace Bruce Wayne as Batman. People just wouldn't accept it.

NO NEVER. Certain things in comics are meant to be timeless. They were here before us and they should be here after us. Anything else well that's what Elseworlds and mini's done out of cannon are for.
NO, it just don't seem right :/ Bruce = Batman and no one can make it change
Till I think Dick was a cool Batman.... he was maybe too cool to be Batman
.......but will be interesting as an elseworld far of main continuity veeeery far.....
but wait that already exist....... oh well
I loved when there was two Batmen running around scaring the living crap out of people when they see two
Bruce Wayne CAN'T retire as Batman, because Bruce Wayne isn't real. Not as a fictional character, Bruce Wayne, as a person, DOES NOT EXIST. The persona known as Bruce Wayne is actually the other identity of Batman. Clark Kent is Superman, Batman is Bruce Wayne. If anything, Batman'll retire as Bruce Wayne and just be Batman all the time. The only reason Bruce Wayne even exists is to maintain Batman's funding through his parents company. It has even been said (admittedly in a non-canonical, though still viable, source) that Batman doesn't even think of himself as Bruce Wayne.
Bruce was Bruce before he was Batman, and besides, in out society, one's name, and not his alias, are that that describe him.
He could never succeed to retire, as his emotional vulnerabilities and emptiness over his parents' death make it impossible for him to detach from his crusade.
I woman could fill that void in his life, life Selina Kyle, Catwoman, for instance, in the animated batman, which I think would have made him a nice wife.
Of course, he cannot keep a woman, as something always happens.
On top of that, even had he a woman, something were to happen at some point that would force him to go into action, and so to speak, into war.
His life would never be a good one, he is a tragic figure, the sort that always have it bad; A strong and upright man.

@TheCrowbar: This. I wouldn't mind an alt universe where we see him retire and be succeeded.it happeend, its called batman beyond....
Check and Mate.
My first reaction is to say no but I'd be okay with him retiring as long as it made sense, was done well, and was in keeping with how I perceive Batman/ the Bat Family. Too much of the same old same old can stifle creativity and lead to stale, horribly cliche, lifeless stories. I can deal with good change.
