Batman: Insane or sane?

I've been asking myself this question ever since reading the Killing Joke. The ending was an interesting one. The Joker makes a joke and he and Batman just end up laughing in the rain. And the fact his parents died in front of his face while he was just hit might have been a bit of a hit to his mentality. Just like the joker said, one bad day can change someone to be just like him. What do you guys think?

Who is sane, really?

He's sane, if someone like Joker started bugging you then you would'v gone crazy in a few minutes, he's still holding up there pretty well.

I'd say "unstable".

I mean we are looking at an adult white male dressed as a bat. Who spends their evenings like that??

But no, unstable. Anyone governed by their fears, occupied by their past... they are walking a thin line. Especially when you consider all the reasons why they allow a mass murderer like Joker live.

He may be obsessed, paranoid, stubborn, hard to deal with sometimes but he's not insane. If he was, Joker would have won a long time ago. He is walking a line between sanity and insanity, but that's why he has a moral code, because it keeps him in check. Once he breaks his code, and kills, he will fall over the edge. But until then, no he's not crazy.

Like 90% heroes dress up in weird costumes,,,,

Insane in the membrane.

You have to go a long way to tell that a person is insane.

I think he's sane.

Batman is to rational to be insane, psychologically damaged would likely be the best way to describe him. We have also seen many instances of his humanity to know he is a good man who possess a moral code and dedication that make him a great but flawed hero.
