A New Creative Team and New Members Headed to UNCANNY AVENGERS

We're starting to have a lot to look forward to after Secret Wars. On the one hand, it's going to be a shame to see the current UNCANNY AVENGERS team have to go their separate ways. They basically only had one mission together in the current series. Cut to "8 months later" after Secret Wars, we're seeing a very different team AND a different creative team.

The new UNCANNY AVENGERS will be written by Gerry Duggan with art by Ryan Stegman. That is reason enough to get me excited about this new series.

Looking at the team, we have some familiar returning members like Quicksilver, Doctor/Brother Voodoo, Rogue, and Captain AmericaSteve Rogers (from the previous Avengers Unity Squad).

Spider-Man is an interesting addition but he has been an Avenger before so it fits. It is curious to note he's wearing his old regular costume and not the one with the greenish glowing spider seen in the promo shot for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1.

I'm not sure who the lady with the pony tail is. Any thoughts? Am I blanking out or is she new?

Is that Jim Hammond? Johnny Storm is going to be busy with the Inhumans. It's possible for him to be on two different teams (since there's no sign of a Fantastic Four) but Johnny doesn't seem to have Wolverine's ability to be on numerous teams at once.

Then there's Deadpool. What the heck is he doing here?!? Since it's Duggan writing him, I'm sold on the idea. He wrote some great moments between the two in the previous DEADPOOL series. It's going to make things nice and awkward and the right moments. Heaven help the team having both Deadpool and Spider-Man in the same room. It's going to be a battle of the witty/annoying banter.

Thoughts on this roster and creative team?

I'm worried about this, enjoyed Reminder's UA but with Gerry helming and Deadpool mentioned so prominently is this going to be serious?

Quicksilver, the man of many costumes, makes his appearance with possibly his worst one yet. A fast-forward symbol? Really?

I'd be excited about Jim Hammond over Johnny. I love what Robinson had done with him re-reintroducing him with All-New Invaders, as well as including him in his Fantastic Four run. He brings a down-to-earth level headed appeal. Johnny, Peter, and Wade would be a crazy dynamic in banter though.

Weird, the girl looks sort of like a mix between the Enforcer and Katana, which she obviously isn't.

Not too fond of this roster.

The art looks like it's from the 90's.

I stopped caring about Uncanny Avengers after Remender killed Rogue and Scarlet Witch and then blew the world up and it made no difference in the Marvel Universe. The whole Xavier's brain in the Red Skull was total garbage too.

That would make a lot of sense.

And why the hell does Rogue look like she's terrified of Deadpool?

Quicksilver had such a nice costume on remender and acuna uncanny avengers, but his new costume is pure crap. horrible

So I guess the whole Havok/Wasp relationship is an afterthought now?

I liked what Remender did with Uncanny Avengers. I like Duggan's writing. I am in.

I was mainly reading UA for the Acuna art. I'm out.

I hasn't but been keeping track of Marvel as of late, but is old Steve able to take part in the action somehow or is he just taking on a leadership/tactician role?

Deadpool and Spider-Man no thanks. I pass.

Not sure how I feel about Stegman on art, but it figures they couldn't keep Duggan away from Deadpool. Recently I tried to get into Uncanny Avengers but really didn't care for the Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver arc it looked like they were going on so I had to drop the title. I may check this out now that that arcs run its course.

Quicksilver looks retarded. Nice to see Captain America back in action though.

This seems to be the way of Marvel. Team titles over solos all day long with 'all new all different' rosters that for the most part look like crap. I haven't seen a cast of characters for a single team book that has me excited other than Web Warriors. And that's just because you can reinvent Spiderman in a thousand different ways and it still be cool.

I can't believe they got rid of the amazing outfit Quicksilver has in Uncanny right now.

I guess Jim is replace Vision as the robot and Wade is replacing Sabertooth as the Wolverine. I'll miss Sabertooth he was great in this team.

It's too bad Remember isn't on this. He is one of the best Deadpool writers in my opinion and for sure the best at using him in a team.

There's a theory that they willingly exploit a devoted faction of Rogue fandom stabilise or at least not let this title bomb completely since it's purposely the only place she's taking part in. And as silly as it sounds, there's a tangible logic in this.

Sweet baby James, these are some of the worst costume designs I've ever seen. Is Quicksilver's new symbol really going to be the "next scene" button on a goddamn DVD remote?!

And Quake's (I'm assuming that's Quake, but it really doesn't matter) looks like a first draft of Katana's costume if she sketched it while drunk.

And has the SSS been revived in Steve or not? Because he looks like Jack Lalane now.

Yeesh, I'm gonna need a lot of convincing to try this book.

@ramior: Not for this Rogue fan. I didn't like how she was presented initially, then they killed her off (of course), then brought her back only to be portrayed as someone who lost her marbles when the control over her powers was gone. All those years of character development thrown out the window. The way Rogue was depicted in Legacy was not the Rogue depicted in Uncanny Avengers, and it just got worse and worse from there.

Oh, and as for Magneto not being the twins' father, that's sticking. Marvel's big wigs have confirmed this.

Sounds about right. X-Men fans are a pretty loyal bunch and I'm sure I posted something to this effect on this site several times. However, as much as it pained me to do it, I no longer follow Rogue around like I used to, and the same goes for other characters I enjoy. They've changed too much, I don't recognise them any more.

I like the Quicksilver costume, overall. I'm not too keen on what appears to be loose short sleeves over Under Armour, and I would have gone with blue over lavender as the main color. But I love the "fast forward" symbol on the chest instead of the traditional 9and overused) lightning bolt emblem.

Voodoo's costume is another thing entirely, however.

I'm also less than enthused by the idea of Deadpool as an Avenger.
