Avengers Assemble is a continuation of EMH.

Last month there was an announcement a new animated show focusing on The Avengers entitled Avengers Assemble would be replacing The Avengers: Earth Mightiest Heroes. Today at Comic Con at the Marvel Television Panel Jeph Loeb said that "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes hasn't been cancelled as Avengers Assemble is being viewed as a continuation of that series". Basically Avengers Assemble is doing what Justice League Unlimited did and it'll take place sometime after the original show but with some new characters in the mix except it won't be as good because we're talking about Jeph Loeb and not Bruce Timm. The show is obviously going to be heavily influenced by Joss Whedon's film because apparently any adaptation of a Marvel character needs to be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe now. Sounds like the usual Marvel bull sh!t to me, but I'll give it a shot. If it is completely awful at least I still have Young Justice and a new season of the Walking Dead.

there will also be no references to EMH or any of the events in that series....definitely a continuation

Anyone who legitimately believes this and doesn't see it as Loeb clearly grasping to get scorned EMH lovers to give his show a chance is just silly.

just like him saying that EMH was always supposed to only have 52 episodes and that's a lot for a show now a days

It'll be about as much of a continuation as Earth's Mightiest Heroes was of United They Stand.

No, it didn't. The designs were refined, not completely different in JLU.

He also said this, “We took this giant epic story, it has a conclusion we always meant to get to...and when we get out of that you’ll see what ‘Avengers Assemble’ will take it to.”

Which is obviously a load of crap. Unless they planned to drop the Surtur plot for no reason and do a pathetic half ass conclusion to the Secret Invasion arc.

Hmm, so basically this is like justice league unlimited? I guess I can go with that. If thats the case, will they finish the surtur storyline they left hanging? Guess we'll see. Oh, I'm hoping for some footage soon too.

Thankfully Loeb is making all the episodes stand alones and toning it more for kids. My feeble brain cant handle too much excitement without a helmet.

If this is true, it makes no sense. But, we'll see.

We'll have to wait and see if they make references to EMH.

To be fair, they did/do have plenty of time since the announcement of the cancellation of EMH and the air date for AA, so it's certainly possible they retooled AA to fit within the continuity of EMH.

Whether or not they're going to do a good job of it is still up in the air, of course. Wait and see approach is the logical conclusion.

Tony Stark, Captain America and Hawkeye all have the same shaped face. And it’s an ugly shape. I've never even seen EMH. I was seriously debating whether to start watching it or not but now I guess it's a no.

I swear, Jeph Leob was sent from DC to kill everything MARVEL was doing right. First it was the Ultimate Universe, then the Spectacular Spider-Man, and now this. Next he'll be going after movies.

if it's being put into the same universe ad the ultimate spider-man cartoon then it can not be anything like what justice league unlimited did.

If the show was following the same continuity as Avengers: EMH, I wouldn't mind the different voice actors and art change as I would simply see it as, like on a comic, simply a new creative team taking over the series. Same characters and history, but simply being drawn and written a little differently. But sadly, from what I've been hearing, this doesn't seem to be a case and sounds more like Loeb trying to save his butt by trying to make the new show out to be something that it's not.

JLU: Was a continuation. Sure they were some art and animation upgrades but we had the same voice actors, kept 5 of the same main characters, hawkgirl came back and Martian Manhunter left but it was obviously the same show.

Loeb is lying.

I loved The Avengers: EMH. Thecharacter interaction was perfect and it allowed lesser known characters to be introduced to younger audiences. In my opinion it was amazing. I'll give Avengers Assemble a chance though.

I need to see a trailer first before I decide but knowing marvel animation is run by Loeb I'll have to lower expectations.

Meh. I'm not impressed. I was a big fan of EMH. It was a fun show that featured a lot of the lesser known characters. I liked the development of the characters and the plot in general. Hopefully this steps up to the plate, hopefully we'll see more of Wasp, Ant-Man and Mockingbird still.

There's actually more truth to this. During the episode with Hyperion, Hawkeye had a flashback to a fight with Molecule Man where the Avengers were wearing old costumes from EMH, and it had the same animation.

@jezzupwuzzup: it's just an Easter egg, there are too many continuity conflicts for them to take place in the same universe.

Started watching this show recently. I'm actually quite surprised how bad it is compared to EMH. Why did Marvel discontinue EMH for this?

Also, why is it that Iron Man sort of became the unofficial leader of the Avengers (not just in this show, but in EMH too)? Cap seems much better suited.
