Before I give the specs on Round Robin #2, I wanted to give a quick refresher on how the Round Robin contests work, since they're still fairly new: Traditionally, the winners of the Artist Show-Off contests get to pick the theme of the next contest in the series as a reward. The Round Robin contests are different because the winning artist then picks someone else in the Comic Vine community to pick the theme for the next contest. Why all the roundabout? This contest is meant to promote that other Viners who don't traditionally visit the Artists Show-Off forums come and hang out with us. It also injects some fresh ideas into the contest themes.

The theme for this round was picked by The Dark Huntress: In the spirit of the "New 52" redesigns currently being promoted by DC, what would your take be on redesigning any Marvel character?
Any character in the Marvel universe is up for grabs! Of course, this doesn't involve just a costume redesign. If you'd also change something about the character's origin, or would like to slightly alter their powers, tell us that too!
Deadline is September 19th, 2011, 11:00PM Eastern Time. Any medium is accepted. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

@jennifermontes: Awesome. Glad you and Dark Huntress collaborated on this and are continuing my contest idea which is now Comic Vine's contest. This is a great idea and hopefully artists will join for it. Congrats again, Jennifer, and this is a great idea by Dark Huntress.
Here we go pretty quick entry, but i enjoyed drawing it.
Two of my favourite marvel characters Cloak and Dagger. Ive basically revamped their appearance i guess. I was hoping that i could draw more, I enjoyed this contest so if its allowed could i draw more characters?
@The Dark Huntress: Thank You. I am glad you like my idea. I think this subject matter for this contest is a great choice, already getting responses. @Blizaga101: Wow that was fast! Well I assume you could post more drawings of more characters but it would be best to ask JenniferMontes and Dark Huntress to be certain. If you do more characters, though, just my input here, you would have to finally make a decision which piece would be your official entry. I've done that before so I think that might be the route to take.
I decided to go a bit crazy with mine. I did Wolverine as if he had been experimented on to unleash his feral side. Giving him the kind of after effect that Beast had. I plan to color it with shades from one of his costumes (brown and yellow).
@Decept-O: @Blizaga101: Yeah, it definitely would be helpful if you guys specify what your official entry is going to be. Having multiple entries per person would make the voting process more hairy than it needs to be. I wouldn't worry about it too much for now, but just something to keep in mind.
When the Phoenix Force took host of The Stepford Cuckoo's, instead of splitting itself into three, it ripped the minds of the triples from there bodies and forced them into the body of Celeste. The sisters thought mentally for dominance and control of the Phoenix Force and the host body, eventually Phoebe became the dominant personality. She embraced the Phoenix readily and enjoyed the power giving to her from it. However she constantly faced struggles from her sisters so the Phoenix Force took the amalgamation onto a whole new level and moulded the three minds into one, eradicating the problem of internal struggles.

@gunjin: It's dificult this contest. Marvel Comics is on road, characters are good, don't need changes for me. But I must to say that Superman, Batman, WW and other iconic DC character don't need, for me, this stupid revamp.. I hate this, soooooo much

an excellent and even original idea... Never saw this version of wolverine before.... Could be an interesting fight between him and Wendigo
I finally decided on redesigning Namor for this contest, since he's one of the oldest characters in the Marvel universe. I think that deciding on a character was the hardest part!
I choose to redesign: Ben Grimm "The Thing". My idea is that Ben looks like Sandman, but with stones, no sand. He also can increase his tall and proportions. A huge hulk of stone (not orange this time)
Elektra's DNA is extracted and a clone is created, and all her assassin fighting techniques are embedded in the clone's thought processes. The clone's body is then merged with a cybernetic body, making the clone a cyborg of sorts, but with a catch. Elektra now takes the name "Elektra" to new heights as she is given the ability to control electricity.
ok so this took me a helluva lot longer than anticipated. esp to be so rough. super huge pic, i can break it down to individual ones, but i like the cover layout. i thought the x-men needed real villains again, so i redid the horsemen. weapons should match biblical revelations.
i guess i combined some elements from captain planet and some metal influences (and the power rangers ?). choosing the right horsemen (logic-wise and powersets) took super long as i debated countless lineups including using the illuminati or cabal. anyways key is below:

alani ryan - kanaloa - death (this one's my favorite, esp because i was able to turn loa into kanaloa ala archangel style) - shark's name is "poison the well"
xian chi xan - desert ghost - pestilence - vulture's name is "winds of plague" (didn't pick foley/elixir because its more obvious and so the x-men have a counter on their side - plus x-men 2099 word. he kinda looks like the moonlight knight - sailor moon anyone - huh?)
japheth - angler - famine - maggots' names "the famine" or eany and meany (wish i didn't decide on the detailing on the coils - skirt look is based on the hyena men of nigeria)
cordelia frost - red queen - war - cerberus' name "red fang" or the dogs of war

I HAD to love karate, my pops insisted on watching it on Saturday afternoons (after my cartoons) and I was like HELL YEA!!! When I first saw Iron First in the comic shop it was an instant sell to me. Really enjoyed working on that based on moviegeek17's creative ideas.
