Oblivion: Scribbles of EJ Morges
How long does each piece normally take? I get distracted way too easily. And I hate penciling, I always just wanna jump right to inks haha. Don't know if its just me or if anyone else feels like that at times.
Dude, I love your style and so surprised or would be if you don't start doing something professional soon. The only thing is that you are slow, which can hurt if you want to be a book penciler but I am sure it is something you can work on. Have you done any panels yet? Would love to see your take on it, say from a direct script? Excellent work though, I wish your World War Hulk image would have been a poster for the arc. Was really epic.
Thanks for the great comments everyone, I do appreciate it.
As far as going pro, I don't think that I have what it takes to be a professional in the comic industry. I'm 35 and I've been drawing for a long time and if I haven't made it by now, if fear that there is little hope that I ever will. Speed is a major issue as
bingbangboom mentioned and while I really do appreciate that all of you like my work, you've never seen me draw a car or a busy City street or an alien armada invasion from outer space or a kitchen full of appliances. A true comic book artist needs to be able and willing to draw all of these things and so much more, page after page and issue after issue to make a career of if and I just can't get myself to do that. I don't have the drive so the drawing has become more of a hobby than anything else . . . . for a long time.
I do still fantasize that I'm a high ranking professional with top billing at comic conventions across the country but that's just a child's dream unless I can get over the hump and do all of the things that are required of a true and professional illustrator.
Thanks again for all of your great comments :)
EJ
GREAT job on everything.
That first one of hulk just blew me away, the detail in your works just amazing . keep it up.
I like the idea of Power Girl having a Superman Crest negative shape in her costume as opposed to a oval or a box, creating a kind of unity in the Superman Family.
This one was also stolen when my car was broken into, shortly after I spilled soda on it. Everyone looks so stale in this image but I do remember being happy with it when I was working on it, though not so much any more.
@Press Oblivion:
Amazing. Me and my bro are HUGE fans of comics and want to get in the industry. Honestly, I think you have the best work I seen here on th Vine and that is saying a lot with the talent here.
What kind of classes, if any, helped you the most? What tips, advice would you give to an up and comer?
Thanks for the compliments and comments, guys! Much appreciated.
Edgeworth_11, I'm afraid that I can't really give any advice to anyone trying to get into the business of comics, as I'm not a professional. I'm self taught for the most part and spent a lot of time, when I was in my teens, drawing from bodybuilding magazines and emulating my favorite illustrators from comics. I feel facial expression and story telling, though you've never seen my work, are the two most important things. Anatomy and atmosphere are still important but secondary. Authenticity lends to and enhances the over all experience.
My only criticism is that I feel his bicep is just far too ungainly. That is but a small foible though, as this is immense.
This is awesome, can you post some of your roughs so we can see the process you go through to create this great work ?
This is better than some professional artists working at DC or Marvel
Awe . . . you're too kind :)

This is some of the preliminary work for the drawing, I have a thumbnail sketch somewhere but I never scanned it. You can see where a lot if the drawing goes wrong here, I wish I could have seen it then. Se La Vi.
@press_oblivion welcome back, spectacular thread resurrection. Love this stuff.
@shatterstar: @deadcool_xd: Thanks guys :) you put a smile on my face :D
Here are a some that I have been posting in the Wonder Woman Forums.
These were done around the time of the Superman: Doomed event. I thought it would be interesting to explore some Genocide elements inspired by the Doomed Theme.
The second image is done after Doug Mahnke from the cover of Superman / Wonder Woman 13, my Doom-O'cide version. All of these are unfinished, just par for the course.
