thanks as always, and it takes about 20 total hours on a sequential, depending on the background detail
I do enjoy choreographing fights, not just beatdowns, i owe no more allegiance to one company over the other. I try to be respectful of the characters and even if they lose the fight, try to give them a decent showing at least. I enjoy bringing to reality these awesome match ups that have yet to see print, and so many of us have longed to see.
oh, and of course i didn't wait all this time to reply and not bring a little present with me...but a quick recap
My JLA Vs Avengers book
wow the whiskey thing can b a pain,
As always thank u for the words of support, and i apologize for my lack of production, but it's sometimes difficult to find the time, energy, and inspiration to get it going. i exercise 4-5 days a week and no matter how much energy boost stuff i take, my body is spent if i execise first. Damn that p90x & beachbody insanity! I'm in good shape, but my talents are going to waste. maybe i should take my talents to south beach LOL
oh well,new page
thank you,
yeah thats tim, and i puposely try to b dynamic with both figures and camera angles, because that was always a common critique i used to get
"whether you do it purposely or naturally the approach you take in layering the scenes is fantastic. It's done as a camera would see it, controlled by a shrewd director using the 'proper club' for such a shot :)thank you,

"
Thanks to all for sticking with this and the kind words,
no haven't finished this yet, still wayyyy too slow and busy, but i am almost done with the next page, and with comicon on the horizon, i wanted to exclusively show u all the work in progress of what has left cap and robin with those looks on their faces.
so here it is
awesome! thanks, glad i can inspire someone on any level.
i was watching some of comic vine's sdcc videos and saw how Babs was working as hard as a superhero and decided to sketch her out her on comic book character
Thank you for tuning in, and the kind words as well
Thought while between pages I would do a sketch for a possible issue #1 for the character I created for Babs
thank you! i can be a bit of a detail freak sometimes
Speaking of my babs character now being legendary, issue #2 has her thanking chris evans for not giving her a quick interview at comicon,
i nicknamed him captain american't cause he cant take 2 mins of his time for our Babs! lol jk chris, we know ur a busy man.
and then mayve a team up crossover
thanks for the kind words, and if i was faster and less busy. i would post more frequently
anyway here we go
Thank you for tuning in, and the kind words as wellJust wanted to put this on the same page as the Captain Ameri"can't". your stuff is still awesome and had o bring this back to the top for any new viewers out there.
Thought while between pages I would do a sketch for a possible issue #1 for the character I created for Babs
Thanks for keeping this alive when i take these extended breaks. I usually like to thumbnail out 3-4 pages at a time so that I can see how I want the story & action to unfold on paper, then just find time to draw them straight through. Problem was, that the last page i posted was the end run of my last set of thumbnails, & i just haven't forced myself to sit down & brainstorm some panel ideas.
I blame this totally on my Xbox 360, which is jtagged, with a 1tb hard drive & between the emulators, arcade, & 360, there must a couple hundred games on it. I've had it a while and it just sat their. I even let my nephews borrow it for a while until i got them their own. I finally aloud myself to just jump into some of these games and play myself silly. I have a real cool xbox 360 guy who knows how to flash, jtag, and repair broken systems. I buy old systems, give them to him, let him do his thing, and then give them away for free to people & families i know that might not be able to normally afford one. I only ask in return that they pay it forward with one act of unselfish kindness to someone else if the opportunity arises at some point in their lifetime. i've given out about ten so far and plan to give out more.
It's all a part of my plan to help change the world.
Ok, now i believe lectriccolossus asked about any tips i might have.
With sequential pages, i approach them as if they were a silent movie, and to try and tell as much of a complete story visually as i can. Gestures, expressions, placement, pacing, are major things i focus on.
I can be a reference junkie. I have an anatomy reference folder on my computer filled with 100's of photos of poses, facial expressions, etc. For comics i like to use MMA, bodybuilders, gymnasts, pics for ideas or correct anatomy. This can help keep poses from looking stiff.
Style and line choice, well on page 1 of this thread i have a long winded explanation of mine, but i say play with different styles, thick lines, thin lines, crosshatch, etc.
some websites with lots of photos are :

I've also uploaded about 15 books that might be helpful for other artists

i love this movie for this scene alone.
Thank you for words of encouragement, they help kickstart me into gear sometimes.
ok i've got two pages thumbnailed out completely. Thought a work in progress post might be in order
Hey just a quick question. Back in the Doomsday versus Thor fight, where is Doomsday? Did he win that fight? Because I saw Thor getting back up in one panel but I never saw him again. I really enjoy your work though!
As always, thank you all for looking & commenting
i was just working more on the page when i saw a few questions lining up on me.
Yes i would like to have a complete book at some point, dialogue, color, etc, but with so much penciling left to do & redo, that would be quite a ways away.
Time varies on panels depending on how many people, detail, backround, size, but the entire page is usually done in 20-30 hours. I would love to paint/color some of this, but would love to see others take on coloring them, because it will be quite a while before i get to that stage.
When dr strange & zatanna froze the villains, Doomsday was in the midst of foot stomping Thor who was using his twirling hammer as a type of last defense. The pages are sometimes unclear, but if you enlarge them, you might b able to make out doomday's frozen position.
well since i was working on the page, i might as well show the progress
I had concept for a book hit me the other day. i dont have time to develope it, so its free to the world as far as i'm concerned. A genius level character (student probably called Rem), who has a dyslexic type of condition where they learn more while sleeping than awake. They actually have an established dream world environment, where he is essentially a modern day davinci, who has designed a massive inventory of technological, and biological advancements, including weapons. Of course this secret would have to get out somehow so that every government in the world would want Rem. The problem is Rem isn't able to totally access his/her dream superbrain abilities while awake, just glimpses, and comes across as barely average.
I like the title R.E.M. PEELS because the learning will take place in the REM state, and PEELS spelled backwards is sleep. REM PEELS.
OK , enough of that, Let's post that dang finished page finally
@dr_jam_onit: YOU ARE TREMENDOUSLY TALENTED MAN! ...So what the heck are you doing here? LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
(short version)the book is a battle book, with at least 80% fighting
(long version) long winded page 1 paragraph 1 of this thread lol
Yes i would like to have a complete book at some point, dialogue, color, etc, but with so much penciling left to do & redo, that would be quite a ways away. I kinda like the pencils as well, and would probably compile the penciled work into a separate artbook.
I'm here to share these awesome matchups we always wanted to see.
