I have decided to start trying to be a crappy artist! Watched a tutorial, flipped through a few books, a little practice and some failed sketches away, I finally came up with this. Ignore the gigantic legs and tiny arms and general lack of any detail.

That's actually pretty good for a first time! After seeing some threads from the Artist Show-Off forum, I also wanted to start doing some sketches and my drawing style is very similar to yours.

@Joygirl: It's actually not that bad. I like it :)

For a first sketch, that ain't too shabby.

Well... first FINISHED sketch.

I had to learn that I:

-can't draw boobs

-can't draw hips

and

-can't draw hands

Before I could force myself to finish something.

Hey! I like it - and you went with striped stockings so I am instantly in love.

Good job -- keep it going, you are the type who excels in everything you take on. <3

@Joygirl: You're welcome ;) Keep practicing!

#9 Posted by Joygirl (19954 posts) - - Show Bio

@lykopis: Thanks. <3 And yeah, most things. My problem is motivation actually. I seem to be relatively apt for most projects I set my mind to -- I had considered artwork to be the exception but I am improving in that as well.

@mr.obvious: I will! I wanna start practicing individual things, like faces and hands, and then try to do another full sketch. Maybe next time I will do something more complicated like a superhero.

@Joygirl: You should draw Harley Quinn! Just sayin ;)

#11 Posted by Joygirl (19954 posts) - - Show Bio

@mr.obvious: OOh, that's a good idea. Would save me the trouble of drawing clothes.

#12 Posted by Video_Martian (5562 posts) - - Show Bio

@Joygirl: That's great. Now draw her already, LOL ;)

and don't forget to upload more of your art on this site.

@mr.obvious: I shall. XD Sometime.

@DarkKnightDetective: That's what they all say. :P

@Joygirl: No I'm serious, the other say I was drawing Spider-man and he ended-up being flat down there.

@DarkKnightDetective: ...Dooown... theeere?

Awee cute, hey I used to draw but only sculpt now. This is no doubt a subtle illustration of you :P I bet nice though.

@Joygirl: Yeah he was as anatomiacally incorrect as a Ken doll.

@Joygirl: I really like the pose! It's good for a first sketch.

And I find hands difficult to draw too... they're so fiddly!

They really are.

This is great! My favorite bits are the stockings, and the hair! Gigantic legs are awesome by the way and this is great, don't undersell yourself. I like the posting and the way you drew her hair. Looks very organic. Also great work with the minute facial details. Make more!!

Cool sketch! Nice clothes :p

I think maybe you should look at some female figure drawing to practice proportions and poses, I have started and it really helps!

@SC: @Selinaky: Thanks so much, you gaiz. :D I will definitely start work practicing a little more. This has given me a lot of motivation, I'm glad I posted it even if I was kinda afraid to.

@Joygirl:

Hey, not bad, especially if you're just starting out. Keep at it!

Draw more, have fun.
