So I've been writing some comics, and now I'm thinking about trying to letter them. At least some of my own work. I need some fresh, objective eyes. Anyone care to critique the page below?
In panel 3 the lettering is scaled down which I don't think is something letterers do. Generally (unless it is a whisper that's meant to be difficult to discern) the letters are all kept at the same size. The use of bold italicised type is effective.
Also - Some form of external narrative always seems to add depth to the pannels by identifying location, unexpressed feelings or raise the stakes.
@fiesty_badger6: Thanks for the response. Yes, I can see that panel 3 should be larger - same size as others. I'm really not sure if I was doing it for effect, or because it was sloppy on my part. :)
As far as captions go, I've made a conscious decision to not use them in this story - except for a few time/location notes. Time will tell if that was wise or not.
