Costume Contest #70: ALL NEW X-MEN!

Bendis via Hank McCoy has brought the original quintet back from the past. It has made for some very extraordinary storytelling so far, but the fact remains....Those costumes suck. How should the original 5 look for today? It is a question only the artists at Comicvine can answer! Draw how you think they would garb themselves in present day. That is your assignment! You may include Kitty if you want.

Kinda like his new costume in Uncanny X-Men? I still can't figure out how he can actually see out of that thing, lol

I'm working on one. Not sure if I'll get it done in time but I'll be putting in a few hours on it yet tonight.

@EGoD: That is amazing, I'll be honest and tell you that I am not a big fan of your Angel design but I LOVE the look of Jean and Cyclops. Great job!

The 20th is great.... the Irish in me didn't want to finish my entry last night...

Here's my entry:

When I think of the original X-Men, I think of uniformity. The costumes need to be both unique and similar, representing the characters as individuals and as a part of a larger unit.

I gave Cyclops some pouches and ridged gloves/gauntlets. I see him as needing some support in hand-to-hand combat (as his optic blasts are a ranged attack) and that's the justification.

I looked at a couple of reference pictures and decided I didn't want Beast to be barefoot. Just because he has huge feet doesn't mean he can't wear huge shoes, right? But what of the functionality of his hands-like feet? Toe Shoes! He's also sporting some Google Glass action.

My only goal with Jean was giving her something like her Marvel Girl mask, which I scaled down in size.

Iceman is really just Iceman. He has the same design to his costume and the ridges can be seen through the ice.

I wanted Angel to have a classic look, so no pretty boy blonde hair here.

I don't see the Voting Thread for this contest. Unless I am not seeing it correctly, I don't think the voting thread transferred over to this new version of the site.
