Nice job Gambit, it kind of reminds me of Cyke's brief costume change after that search for Cyclops story line. I think that's when he sported short sleeves... ah well you did a good job and I'm with Maxicere, if you want to de-harley it, then just change the design of your X symbol. I'm with you on Scott being a plain dud...er dude. Oh lol on the gold condom comment too, I'd quote you back but I'm not at home and this computer I'm on can't be upgraded to display the format for CV.
@Gambit1024: That is amazing! It's simple and the color scheme works (even it's Harley-esque). Why hasn't anybody else thought of having Cyclops wear a red outfit (or some red on his outfit) when his powers consists of the color red?! Genius!

@Gambit1024: Awesome, looks awesome!! Another bit, use an own background, you can do it. You have a lot of time in this contest. Make an background, simple, with an "X" symbol. Your art win a lot if it's 100% your art. Make an effort, you could feel complete when finished!
@Gambit1024: That's a very nice costume design. Very masculine and still "X-Men" like. This has to be the best piece you've done thus far. Good job. @cosmo111687: A very different take and not what I would expect but that is a good thing. Great design.
Awesome work, it's interesting to see how far people are going from Cyke's old costumes, guess it shows how people really want to see him slip out of that stupid jump suit, well except for maybe Emma Frost lol.
All right here’s my entry, now bare with me because I'm gonna explain the outfit :P
This costume relates to my Emma frost costume creation as both outfits are from my own wee made-up universe. In this universe mutants are accepted, which is great there is no hate (generally) however as mutants are gifted with powerful abilities so the public and government expect all those with powers to fight for the greater good. The xmen are now an army full of mutants willing to protect the innocent. Cyclops is a member of this army and this is his uniform. I’ve replaced his visor with a more steam punk looking goggles that go round the back of his head. There are several Xs so there’s the x theme. With some combat boots and some buckles to make the costume look more war-ish I guess :P
Now to continue the story (this is where I explain the shield and the robotic hand if you noticed :L)...
Like in the 616 Steve Rogers is discovered and is instantly turned in a superhero by the government. Steve was thrown into modern combat way to early and still wasn’t fully sane by the traumatic events of WW2 and feeling lost in time. This caused Captain to go insane which resulted in mass destruction and many deaths. The xmen were tasked to find and apprehend him, not kill. All of the xmen took him on resulting in more deaths. Cyclops lost his hand in the process and was about to be killed, but was knocked back by an optic blast. Colossus then took the shield and decapitated Steve. He gave Cyclops the shield (not too sure why, maybe cause of his leadership skills. I literally made this up in a day)
But yeah stories over... I plan to colour soon and I’m thinking of adding a spray painted x to the shield
Not sure if you guys allow image manips, if not cool, I just had fun doing it. I got the idea but am nowhere near a good drawer to pull off what I wanted, this is the closet I could get using GIMP. I kept the same type of style but gave it more of a steam punk / Pilot feel. changed the lay out of the strips to make a single brested cross over with clone and smudge, edited thet belt and moved the X - symbol to the top of the strips, changed the visor to match classic Cyc and reduced the colour of the visor and added a little flare, changed to the boots and gloves to a more leather feel
I'll post the voting thread when I get home. I don't know about manips, I'm not sure if we've had them entered in these art contests. I don't really have a problem with it, you said it was a manip and that's how it will be posted.
