After Anakin Skywalker's defeat on Mustafar, Emperor Palpatine had to act quickly to save his life. Aware that Anakin would not survive long, Palpatine had to improvise.
A Clone Trooper's armour was modified to act as a ventilator/ life support suit.
Recocovered parts from General Grievous's droid body were used to replace the limbs Anakin lost during his battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
@payno: Nice, I also had the idea of working in a storm trooper respirator some how, but I haven't started yet so I won't use it. Still gave him the tape recorder looking life support unit though eh? haha
Forgive me for what horror you're about to see. Every other Sith gets a cloak, so I thought Vader deserved one. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd I just realized I stole the bottom part of his face from Payno.I'm a bad person.

Thanks. It's just that I know that despite it's flaws MS Paint can be used to make great pics and I'm really sad that I can't properly convey that. Can't wait to see your entry(if you make one)

I had that issue for a while too, I was going to do the cyborg look, but then payno entered with it so I was lost for a bit.
I'm not too happy with this drawing. I had thought of a similar idea to what Payno posted, but I generalized the idea a bit too much. I figure that I might as well post it here, so that I can learn from it.
I kept his helmet. Used Emperor's Shadow Guard armor/chest/shoulders. Tried to make a more robotic legs and left arm.

@Decoy Elite: Have you simply tried sketching either with pencil or pen and ink? The whole MS Paint thing may work for some but honestly, I think you may want to try sketching. Even if it comes out not the way you may want, at least it would be better than the MS Paint efforts. I think it would be good to have something else from you.

I do both I just can't post my non MS Paint pics on here as I have no scanner. Some pics look better, some worse. I practice a bit with both.
I may have to go out of town and I'm afraid I may not get to finish my entry. I will post what I have so far and If I can finish before the deadline I'll re-post with the completed drawing.
I'm approaching this as less of a complete re-design and more of an evolution. Considering continuity Darth Vader wore the same outfit for 20 years or so? You would think with the technology he had at his disposal his uniform would have undergone a few upgrades over the years right?
One of the greatest villains of sci-fi and a lot of fun to conceptualize visually. There's some really great variations submitted. Here's my take on Vader 2.0 equipped with tie-fighter armor.

I wanted to convey a very very different costume idea for Darth Vader. I know the other entries are very excellent and convey a lot of badassery. I just wanted to offer something a bit steampunk, lanky, funky, and out of the norm. Maybe its his neck that makes you think he may be a bit "jar jar binks"? I hope no one chimes in with any smart aleck comments.
I wasn't trying to offend, it wasn't my intention. I am not sure in what direction your character was going in but being that you gave it the lanky look as you put it, long neck and the lower part of the helmet rim looks like binks ears, robotic style, it kinda gave me the impression of a Cyborg jar jar binks. Sometimes without intention, we can as artists get unexpected results. I was going to ask if that was his "magic stick" he was holding?
If you notice, on a lot of my posts, sometimes I do play around never trying to insult, Lt1085 get's a lot of ribbing from me, he realizes my humor as do many others. As I mentioned it's not meant to hurt any one's feelings.
@DavidR: Sadly because of your statements I am questioning a few things, not just my art. Perhaps I should have tried something grittier. If this is the reaction I am going to get then I will remove this entry.
@Decept-O: You can't just take it down, now there is half a page full of conversation about your submission that makes no sense whatsoever now that there is no picture to support it. If you are really going to do another one, leave the original up anyways so that we can see the evolution of your art (just make a note about it in the posts).
@Decept-O: I didn't mean that it's against the rules. I meant that you just shouldn't, because I honestly think you are overreacting. DavidR was clearly not trying to be malicious with his joke - so don't be mad at him. You are absolutely welcome to participate in future contests, I don't know why you would think you might be barred from them.
You took this waaay too seriously, I never said anything intentionally negative. There was constructive criticism in my comments. Maybe not to the point but what I said is basically that your entry did not look like a Darth Vader costume redesign. It looked like Jar Jar Binks Cyborg.
I don't know how anyone would pull that off but you did. I never criticized your art in a negative way as to the construction of it, your figure was fine, you achieved what you wanted in what you where trying to portray from the steampunk look. But the end product did not look like Darth. I just cannot understand why you became so bothered by a lighthearted comment, it wasn't meant to be vicious.
