CAGE & Ironfist
Why do you insist on coloring black characters white? I mean, I have a darker tan than that and he's got emerald green eyes...Does it make you uncomfortable? Racial difference I mean. Nice drawing though, I like the chi. Needs higher contrast with darker shadow tones though(not the chi). This is not an attack, so you don't need to retaliate.
But it is an attack. Look up the definition of passive aggressive. You are accusing me of being a racist (ie drawing those of a different race differently based solely because I am not comfortable drawing their race). So to answer you no, I am not a racist. I did two previous color tests to determine which would look better, black or brown. Black (I used ink) looked too lacquered over against the back drop of the colored pencil face. The brown (light brown and brown colored pencil) melded with the facial color too much to look separate any sort of detail. So I used blue, not emerald green, to color his eyes. This offset the eyes from the skin enough to show detail and didn't make him look like he had his eyes closed. I did use a peach pigment under the light brown to add a different layer of depth of color to the face ergo the highlights in the face. You'll take notice that I did use a larger flatter nose size and fuller lips and more pronounced cheekbone structure which are common elements of African American facial structure. Contrast that to the smoother features of Rand's face, even an untrained eye could see that effort was made to make distinctions between the two races. And I don't "insist" on coloring people of different ethnic origins any particular way. I have posted only two other colored African Americans on this site. !. Was another pic of Cage.....with sunglasses on. 2. Was a picture of Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau) that while yes the eye color was blue, it was also blue on the source material I drew it from. Oh, and consider this an explanation, not a retaliation.
Nah Spawn I agree with you about the energy. It is all color and no black except for a little bit to the inside of the left hand near the chest. I was doing the chest emblem right before and started inking the energy. Don't know why exactly. But the rest of the energy is a combination of 7 inks and 12 colored pencils to achieve the desired effect.
@DWUSMC Thanks I dig Ironfist too!
Opinion on a background : Go with a brickwall background. Place both the Cage and Iron Fist lettering a bit higher up on the wall to be more visable. Keep the same destinctive lettering design for each character's name, but make them look as if they were painted graffiti style upon brickwall background.
I think this would be better if it wasn't colored. It's not poorly drawn but the coloring is kind of mediocre.I like the Iron Fist costume.I like that you presented your own take on it rather than just drawing his regular one.The Lettering is pretty weak to.I don't think it's needed.
