One of my favorite days of the week is gathering up all the coolest comic art that won't be appearing in comic books I can find. The reason you won't see them in comics is because artists often do commissions and sketches and post them on their blogs, Tumblrs and Twitter accounts. They are simply too amazing to go unnoticed.

Let's start off this week with a couple pieces from the wonderful and friendly Chris Giarrusso. If you went to Emerald City Comicon last week, you might have heard the news about a new project, THE WALKING DEAD for Kids.

The idea is it's supposed to be a panel-by-panel recreation of the original issues using Kirkman's scripts. Alas, it was an April Fool's prank for the convention. Here's where I break the rules a little because apparently the image will be used as part of a series of special limited edition variants that Image will release in the upcoming year.

== TEASER ==

Giarrusso also payed tribute to Rob Liefeld's YOUNGBLOOD #1.

Be sure to check out Chris's website where you can also watch the story of the Very First Easter.

The great thing about convention season is we get to see the sketches the artist do. Marcus To posted a few he recently did on his Tumblr this week.

This week many comic shops had early release parties for AVENGERS VS. X-MEN. Todd Nauck was at Alakazam Comics. He did a lot of sketch covers and posted them on his Twitter.

Todd also posted this sketch of Captain Britain on his Tumblr.

Looks like Peter Nguyen was busy at ECCC as well. Take a look at his sketches of Kitty Pryde & Lockheed, Red Robin, Etrigan, Manhunter and Mary Marvel, posted on his Tumblr.

Tom Fowler was also at ECCC. Take a look at the commissions of Wolverine & Hulk, Man-Thing, Deadpool, Lizard and Rhino he posted on his blog.

Agnes Garbowska was at ECCC as well (guess I missed a great convention). Here's some of the commissions she did. Check out her Tumblr for more.

Thanks to blur1528, we have some Barry Kitson sketches to look at. Barry was at the New Orleans con and did quite a few sketches. Check these out and you can find more on his website.

If you're looking for commissions but can't make it to a convention, there are artists that take them via their websites. Check out these two that Daniel HDR posted on his Tumblr (and did you read this week's STORMWATCH with his art?.

Robert Atkins is kicking off Avengers month on his blog. Check these out his Vision as well as other examples of commissions he'll do. Check out his site for more information.

Tom Raney posted a couple recent commissions on his Twitter of Havok & Polaris and Black Canary.

Skottie Young posted another Daily Sketch which he put up for sale afterwards. This week he did a sketch of Scud, the Disposable Assassin.

Mike Mayhew posted a sketch cover of Jean Grey over at Comic Art Fans. (Can we get the return of Jean in AvX? Probably not.)

Gene Gonzales surprised me this week. Usually the sketches and commissions around here are usually the same old common characters. He posted one of Mano from the Fatal Five on his blog. Pretty cool stuff.

Paolo Riveraposted an old Spider-Man pic he did as well as a Doc Ock sketch (I like this version way better than the current old and dying one in ASM).

Ron Salas posted a few sketches on his Tumblr. Check out his version of Batman, Nightcrawler and Tyr.

We haven't seen manh Phil Noto drawings here the last couple weeks but here's one he posted of "Miss Emma Frost, New York City, 1984."

Surprisingly we don't see a lot of Wonder Woman around here. To make up for that, check out this great version by Marcio Takara, posted on his Tumblr.

ADVENTURE TIME is becoming a common theme around here and you won't hear me complaining. Here's a more realistic version of Finn, Jake and Lumpy Space Princess posted by David Cutler on his Tumblr.

And we'll end this week with a mock cover Nick Bradshaw did of Dejah Thoris and posted over at Comic Art Fans.

That's it for this week. Be sure to look for another installment and send me a pm or email if I'm missing out on other artists' blogs or Tumblrs.

I really like Todd Nauck's Captain Britain. I'll never get tired of looking at Marcus To's art, ever. Tom Fowler's Deadpool cracks me up! Mike Mayhew's Jean Grey is spectacular as is Robert Atkins's Venom. And what more needs to be said about Barry Kitson? He is one of the nicest persons I have ever met and was so content to listen to the stories me and my friend told him. Other people seem too busy or don't care what us fans have to say, but that man truly listened to us. Definitely a pleasant experience.

Black and white but tasty all over. So impressive. All the work is again fantastic these just stand out a bit more for me.
