Each week we gather up the coolest comic book art you won't see in the comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for fun or for commissions and post them on their websites, blogs or Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Mahmud Asrar posted his X-Men Sketch Studies on his Tumblr.

Rod Reis posted an Elric commission along with a couple digital sketches on his Tumblr.

J. Scott Campbell posted a character from Mad Men on his Instagram as well.

Ron Salas posted a Usagi Yojimbo sketch for the Stan Sakai project on his site.

Skottie Young posted some more Daily Sketches on his Tumblr.

Yildiray Cinar posted some art on his Instagram. His Thor pic was labeled as a "warm-up" piece. Really? Very impressive.

Ryan Stegman posted this penciled shot of "Wolvie reading his valentime's card" on his Tumblr.

Joel Gomez posted more sketch cards and covers on his Tumblr.

Phil Noto posted some art on his Tumblr that will be at the Full Disclosure show at Stranger Factory in New Mexico. More information can be found HERE.

Gene Gonzales some new sketches on his blog this week.

Peter Nguyen posted this Wolverine sketch and his con schedule (so far) on his Tumblr.

Last week we saw a Spider-Beetle sketch by Daniel HDR on his Tumblr. Here's another one

Here's a Magneto sketch card Chris Giarrusso posted on his website. Sorry, it's already sold out.

Paolo Rivera posted this Enchantress pic on his blog.

This Superman pic Michael Cho posted on his blog is actually a variant for SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #6. We just want to make sure everyone gets a chance to see it.

Marcio Takara posted more art on his Tumblr. You can see his black and white and colored versions.

Todd Nauck posted some X-Men sketches on his Tumblr. Guess he's getting ready for X-MEN LEGACY (the upcoming comic formerly known as NIGHTCRAWLER).

That's it for this week. Be sure to check back next time for more great art.

That Superman "old time classic style" is lovely.

I wish I can see more Top Cow or Indie characters.

Nightwing is sooo BA

Can't help "liking" all of Marcio Takara's stuff on his Tumblr. I really want to use his stuff for reference and to imitate his style.

Also, gotta get some Cliff Chiang in here but I guess his recent updates on his Tumblr doesn't fit the requirements ("... art you won't see in comics") for this post.

Wolverine shredding through the paper at a forward facing angle may be an old hat by now, but this one is exceptionally well done. Really lends it's success to the artist's ability to have the character embrace the metaphysical. If I was holding this piece of paper in my hands (albeit while being slightly torched) I'd probably freak out.

yes! Yildiray Cinar's work is Awesome! He and Tony Bedard have totally turned around the Supergirl title for me. I hope he stays on permanent. Thanks big guy!

Wait, what? Did they cancel Nightcrawler's book or just rename it? And when did this happen?

@greenlucario: "Formerly known as NIGHTCRAWLER." They must have renamed it. Almost looks like it was a while ago. Chris Samnee posted on his Tumblr on Jan 15 and it's referred to as X-MEN LEGACY. I guess a lot of us just totally missed it and maybe Marvel didn't really make a big deal about it. I noticed it in this week's Marvel Previews on comiXology:

Love Elric and Usagi Yojimbo ones

My budding art collection desperately needs a Rod Reis piece in it (I didnt mean for that to come out so sexualized). BTW, you seen Jeff Lemire's Usagi Yojimbo yet?

Asrar's X-Men look great as does Salas' Yosagi and Cinar's Supergirl. And for those who keep up I just posted my deviantART picks for the week as well.

There's always great stuff in this article but this is a ridiculously terrific week. My favorite is definitely Ron Salas's Usagi Yojimbo. I love the colors on Mahmud Asrar's work. Rod Reis, Phil Noto, and Marcio Takara have some great work as well. Stellar week.

Marcio Takara makes me fall in love with the Wasp all over again.

They had said at one point that it was originally supposed to be X-Men Legacy before the announcement, then they changed it to Nightcrawler. I wonder what it actually is going to be titled...

I'm lost too. But those images were from last week's comiXology previews that Marvel put out. Before it just said X-Men Legacy in the banner watermark thing. Now they actually put the title on top of the image. This makes more sense but we'll have to wait until Marvel releases a "first look."

Doesn't matter either way for me, I'm buying the book. xD
