It's time once again to gather up the best comic book art that won't be appearing in actual comic books. The reason they won't is because artists often do sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out for more information.
San Diego Comic-Con is coming up and Peter Nguyen will be there. Check out his Daredevil and finished Young Avengers drawings he posted on his Tumblr.
Marcio Takara posted some recent commissions on his Tumblr. He mentioned he won't be at SDCC but has stated his commission list is open. You can email him at mtakaraart@yahoo.com for more information. I have to say, I love love loooooove his Stephanie Brown.
Skottie Young started up his Daily Sketches on his website. He often posts sketches and offers them for sale immediately. He also posted a exclusive Avengers movie poster that will be available at SDCC. The Lorax he drew as a request for his son.
Dustin Nguyen will be around SDCC…somewhere. He posted what might be sketches for Li'l Gothams on his Tumblr but I couldn't resist posting his Batgirls pic.
Mike McKone has been experimenting with coloring and has been posting some sketches on his Twitter.
Ron Salas posted this Greatest American Hero pic on his Twitter. He said he started it on the Fourth but wasn't able to finish it. Looks finished to me.
Joel Gomez posted a couple sketches on his Tumblr he did for the Creature Feature Art Show at Left Hand Black Gallery in San Diego running from July 13 to August 3.
Chris Giarrusso has been posting some sketch card pics on his website. He got some blank cards at NYCC when he was at the Topps booth and they're available for purchase on his site.
Freddie Williams II posted a bunch of new sketches on his TwitPic page this week.
Todd Nauck posted some new sketches on his Tumblr and Instagram. Check him out in action drawing Harley Quinn.
Agnes Garbowska posted some commissions from Ace Albuquerque Expo on her Tumblr. She will be at SDCC next at table HH-18.
Tony Daniel will also be at San Diego. He posted a peek at some commissions he's been working on on his Facebook page and also posted his Wonder Woman sketch on his Tumblr. The interesting thing about the WW piece is one he was working on that is going to be replaced by an action pose instead. Rather than just erase it, he decided to save it. Good thing too.
That's it for this week. SDCC is getting closer!
