It's time for some more cool comic book art by comic book artists that you will not see in actual comic books. Because artists love to draw and experiment, they often post sketches on their personal blog sites or Tumblr pages. It makes sense since often they are tied to a single series and you know they have to be itching to try drawing other characters they might not normally get the chance to. Thankfully they are proud of them and like to share them with us. To ensure they do not go unnoticed, our aim is to showcase some of them here so everyone gets a chance to see them as well. They simply too cool not to be seen.
While searching this week, it seems some artists are still recovering after San Diego Comic-Con. There's also the fact that they have their actual deadlines they need to meet.
Because of the recent Dark Knight Rises news, I couldn't pass up showing off these older images from Francesco Francavilla. On his website, he offers commissions. Not sure what his wait list would look like but check out this version of Batman. Woo!
== TEASER ==Catwoman has been in the news as well as an image of Anne Hathaway has been released. Here's another (older) commission from Francesco.
Are you excited about the new Wonder Woman #1 coming in September? Cliff Chiang (who will handle the art) posted a couple sketches on his Tumblr that he did at Comic-Con. Here's Kitty Pryde and Wolverine in a Days of Future Past image.
And here's an image of Scarlett and Baroness.
In September we'll see the new volume of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (written by Brian Bendis) with art by Sara Pichelli. She did an amazing job (no pun intended) on the recent Black Cat arc. Check out this image of Emma Frost from her personal blog.
Our final images were brought to my attention courtesy of our own Inferiorego. If you've heard of Project: Rooftop then you know the idea is for artists to redesign classic characters. Daniel Govar recently had the task of giving his take on members of the Justice Society of America. Check out Doctor Mid-Nite:
And Alan Scott:
You can check out the others at Project: Rooftop.
That's it for this week. Which ones did you really dig this week? We'll have more next time.
