@lectriccolossus: well without a scanner your next alternative would be to use a phone or digital camera and take a shot of them under good room lighting.
After you get them copied over to the computer a good thing to do then would be to crop to the image and make some basic adjustments to the brightness/contrast or color hues if you feel there's any problem with it.
Any decent basic image editor can help you with that, some free ones being Paint.net or GIMP.
