Who will win one?
sorry for the delay this month folks, took a little breather last week and it delayed things a few days.
We'll be announcing the winners for April on 5/15 so be sure to vote if you haven't.

Some details have been adjusted in the past few months so please review to make sure you know the deal:
TIMELINE: It's open for work created from the 1st of the month untill the end of the month. There will be 14 days of polling after and winners of each category will be announced.

RULES TO ENTER: It would be chaos without them, so here's the premise.
1) There's no set theme, an artist can post any work they've done within that month but they must choose ONE FOR ANY MEDIUM THEY CHOOSE TO ENTER by the deadline (defaults to their most recent unless specified).
2) For their submission choice they MUST include the following information when posting:
MEDIUM : (required - if you don't specify which medium that it's for, it's not a submission)
REASONS FOR CHOOSING : (not required - but offers insight into the artists creative thought)
SUPPLIES / DESCRIPTION : (not required - but offers insight into the artists creative process)

POLLING: the first 14 days of the next month voters will be able to submit there choices for the following criteria before the winners are announced:
MEDIUMS: (pick what you feel your entry fits under)
Best Traditional Drawing (paper/pencil/ink/paint/canvas)
Best Digital (tablet/3d/photo)
Best B&W
Best Color

Web Comic / Strip / Panels
For this category you may submit a sample (1 IMAGE) of any Web Comic/Strip/Panel layout that you've produced for 2011. In the case of web comics you should also provide a link to where to view the entire comic.

GENRES: (You don't submit to these below, they are chosen from all entries above)
Comedy
Horror
Originality
Special FX

PROGRESS:
Most Improved

Each vote will count as a point for the artist and the one with the highest point count will be considered the overall 'Artist of the Month'. Voters can vote once for all criteria or just the ones that they can come up with a choice. I know there's no glory of picking the next theme but it does offer an artist a chance to focus more on different areas of their work and get a decent idea of what parts of their work people do like.

Here's hoping all you great artists can pluck something out of your monthly pieces to submit :)

Created in this month. Definitely I will post this:

Medium - DIGITAL
Reason for choosing - I am learning 3D, so a few critics would be welcome.
Materials - Daz Studio, Photoshop, lots of base materials, both for 2D and 3D.

Hey Tonis,

I'd like to enter my Daken in either the traditional or colours (or both if possibe? lol) If it can only enter in one, let me know :)

PS

Spawndon that looks awesome. Especially love the lady in blue with the swords! Very sexy ;)

#4 Posted by tonis (6202 posts) - 2 years, 10 days ago - Show Bio
@spawndon: an excellent choice of your new 3d pieces. Great job on both the 3d and the post work :)

@madrid_san: you can use it for both mediums if you like, yes. It's definitely an awesome display of coloring :)
If you decide you want to use something else for one of the categories you have until the end of the month to make any final decisions on what to use where.
#5 Posted by karbacca (135 posts) - 2 years, 10 days ago - Show Bio

Not sure what one I like best so....can I enter all 4 of these for color and digital?

#6 Posted by tonis (6202 posts) - 2 years, 10 days ago - Show Bio
@karbacca: ooo - some sweet choices, loved that Kara, and first time seeing the Thor colored, turned out great. :)
You can pretty much fill all the mediums up (traditional/digital/color/B&W)
Take your pick which you want for what and I'll go with those.

I don't think it's the first piece I've submitted to the color category, but it is the first fully colored one.

sounds good, duly noted :)

Think I'm gonna use this for my digital entry. It's a concept design for a character Lazystudent came up with and I was happy with how it turned out.
Medium: Digital (3D)
Tools: Poser 2010 / Photoshop (for some electrical touch ups)

This is my first entry. It's my hand drawn/inked Captain America I did earlier today. This is a costume I designed myself. My biggest inspiration was Cap's costume he wore in Secret War.

Hope you all enjoy :)
#23 Posted by M.S. Feather (1514 posts) - 2 years, 5 days ago - Show Bio
@tonis: You chose the perfect angle and pose to amplify just how intimidating the Monster can be.  Love the classic lab tech you added to the image too.  A Jacob's Ladder, mysterious goo filled tubes and lots and lots of buttons...all of which probably serve no purpose whatsoever in such a scientific procedure. :P

@kiss_lamia
: Put them lighters up!

@Gambit1024:Your digital stuff is great but I'm glad to see you still do traditional stuff occasionally.  : )

The costume looks great by the way, especially the mask.

It's only two weeks into the month but aw, to hell with it. I'll post this page and just hope that the two following it aren't 1000% better. It's more talking, which is probably one of the reasons why I SHOULDN'T post it but  I'm pretty happy with the layout. The good thing is that next page, everything gets tossed in the blender and the real action starts.

As always, you can find it all at http://selfcentent.com/.

I'm not sure what I'll get done this month but since I already have one piece finished and posted I think I will throw her in the mix for now.

#27 Posted by Mercy_ (83497 posts) - 2 years, 5 days ago - Show Bio
@EGoD: I love how you blend and use color in that piece.

@Raven0207

I did it for myself, she's part of my Mystic World people that I've been trying to redo lately.

@The Dark Huntress:

Thanks :) The colouring took a long time to do and it didn't come out as vibrant as it does on the paper, stupid scanner but oh well.

@Gambit1024: excellent job on Cap Gambit, nice to see some of that pencil work from you getting into the showcase ;)

@rocketpig: I like to see some talking in the web comic samples, it helps show some of the lettering skills. Can't believe how far you've gotten already, I remember when this story was just a wee little page 1&2 :)

@EGoD: you couldn't have chosen a more perfect example for this month, This one really does go down as one of my all time favorites I've seen on the vine ever. Well done buddy. :)
#31 Posted by DomDom (1013 posts) - 2 years, 5 days ago - Show Bio

I just did this today in what little spare time i had.

What I used:

Penciled it first, then pen/markered it second, added computerized color third...and played with effects. =)

I suppose this will be for color or somethin?

Hope ya all like! =)

Some killer-awesome pics on here guys!

#32 Posted by tonis (6202 posts) - 2 years, 5 days ago - Show Bio
@DomDom: very nice Dom, your Bat collection is growing into quite the variety. You're gonna have a museums worth if you keep this up :)
I can mark this one down for pretty much all mediums minus the B&W. Any that you'd like.
#33 Posted by EGoD (1459 posts) - 2 years, 5 days ago - Show Bio
@tonis
Thanks, after the many variations I did and the near completion of a couple, I have to say I'm happy with the end result.

OMG. . . that's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea how much I love that.

Okay, here's my ridiculously inadequate entry!!!

For Digital and Color
My Wacom Tablet, Corel Painter
It's my first colored piece in a while, and though it's not exactly my best, it's among my favorites. So yes, it is sketchy, and yes, it is messy, but by God, it's fierce!
