Marvel Makes Plans for 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Spinoff

Looks like we might be getting another Marvel television series on ABC. Entertainment Weekly has reported that Marvel is planning on a spinoff from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. No further information is available except that it's being developed by AoS executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski. It's believed the show could begin as early as next fall or possibly as a midseason show. Despite these plans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't been officially renewed as ABC hasn't made their official decisions yet.

What could the show be about? What about the members of the "real" SHIELD?

Maybe we'll see Edward James Olmos' team handle things their way. Adrienne Palicki did officially become a series regular back in February. We're seeing her loyalty wavering between the two different SHIELD groups.

What about an Inhumans spinoff?

It might be too early since the movie isn't set to be released until 2019. We did see a sort of sanctuary for Inhumans that went through Terragenesis. If the movie focuses more on the traditional Inhumans like Black Bolt and Medusa, an Inhumans spinoff could lay down some more of the groundwork before the movie even begins production.

Maybe we'll see an Agent Ward spinoff?

Since his true muddy colors were revealed, he hasn't shown up too much on the show this season (although he is set to return). Could a series focusing on his dark path in the Marvel Cinematic Universe work?

If we do see spinoff from Agents of SHIELD, what does that mean for Agent Carter? The show was fantastic but unfortunately didn't have the highest ratings. It should also be noted that this is being reported as a spinoff for Agents of SHIELD. That means seeing another, unrelated, Marvel character get their own show would be unlikely.

Agent Carter has a 60% chance of renewal according to Entertainment Weekly. Hopefully they renew that before making a SHIELD spinoff. Don't know what the spinoff would be about but I'd rather they just focus on the main show & Agent Carter

Inhumans spin off would be great with Skye as the main lead. Need that Season 3 renewed for Agents of Shield first though!!

I feel like the spin off would have to be a character introduced that isn't a regular, so that (in my mind) rules out people like Skye and FitzSimmons.

And Ward being who he is, I don't think he could carry his own show. Man needs some context otherwise he's kinda pointless. He's kinda psychopath.

I could see maybe Bobbi or Mack spinning out to something else, maybe with Hunter. Or the Inhumans, but without Skye. But an Inhumans show so soon, with the movie like 3 or 4 years away, seems weird to me. They would have a ton of ground to fill leading to the movie, which is why introducing Inhumans this season seemed so odd to me, even before the Inhumans movie was delayed due to Spider-Man.

Ehh, I'm much more interested in the Xmen show from Fox honestly.

I am not sure but if the spin-off is related to SHIELD/HYDRA then it seems like a good opportunity to introduce Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman. I was hoping Adrienne Palicki's character would turn out to be Spider-Woman (since I was unfamiliar with Mockingbird) but I was wrong.

YASS!!! I hope it's not about any of the main AoS cast though; I don't want them to be split up.

This gets me very excited. Really hope it happens. I'd love to see a team of superheroes in the vein of Secret Warriors. Like, a special S.H.I.E.L.D. forces team made up of Dethlok, Skye, Mockingbird, and some new recruits (Inhumans, maybe).

I'd love a Mockingbird spinoff show similar to the vein of spy shows like Alias, but I would prefer them bringing in another Avenger not slated for a movie like She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Tigra, Spider-Woman, Cloak & Dagger or Secret Avengers...

I'd love to see Agent Carter get renewed for a second season. Season one was great, giving us a nice glimpse into the MCU before S.H.IE.L.D. and all of these super-powered characters began popping up, and seeing more of that time period and how S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded would, in my mind, make for an awesome show.

I wonder if they'll keep Agents of SHIELD with SHIELD Agents then have Coulson's team become Secret Warriors. Not sure why'd you need a spin-off for that though unless they really wanna focus on Mockingbird and some of the current agents then make Secret Warriors a bunch of supers.

It could also be a Deathlok show, or an Inhuman show. Either way it has peaked my curiosity.

Glad to hear this. For me it's more exciting than the Flash/Arrow Spinoff.

It would make a ton of sense to make an Inhumans show since it seems like the Inhumans movie won't be the official reveal of the Inhumans. Although I'd hate to see Chloe Bennet leave the show. WHO KNOWS!!! Still more excited for the Netflix series' though.

Inhumans or Deathlok. Probably Inhumans just to send yet another FU message to Fox before Fox can come out with their rumored Xmen TV show.

Agent Carter, PLEASE!? But an Inhumans show would be cool too.

In the show aliens have appeared, so I think it's time to get Abigail Brand and Henry Gyrich an MCU introduction.

Jessica Drew and Carol Danvers have been S.W.O.R.D. agents in different incarnations so they can even cameo/be introduced/referenced/appear in a show that focuses on this team.

Heck! The team could even span out of this "Real S.H.I.E.L.D." to become S.W.O.R.D.

(I would also love it if there was a way to tie this to Guardians and/or Captain Marvel.)

Although, I don't know if this is under FOX's jurisdiction since the team first appeared in X-Men comics.

It may be a spinoff in the way Law and Order had spinoffs: new characters, only tangentially related.

I'm also suspicious that "the real SHIELD" will turn out to be "the SHIELD controlled by whatever that mysterious cargo in the carrier was that they were supposed to blow up," fwiw.

Spider-woman is an interesting idea.

I liked Agent Carter although I also don't know if I necessarily need to see more episodes of it.

cancel shield, spinoff the inhumans. nobody goes to marvel movies/comics saying "ooh cant wait to see those humans with guns" we want superpowered HEROES. there is a reason no one is watching this show. fix your mistake marvel and continue to build up the inhuamns universe for the upcoming film

Second half of season 1 turned the show from ok to pretty good. Season 2 took it from pretty good to me anxiously anticipating Tuesday nights. Really enjoy it. Story lines are resolved fairly quickly, does not feel episodic like the first season tended to do. A lot of plot lines happening. Just really good tv.

Maybe it is likely to have some tie in to Civil War. Are there any prominent characters from that who haven't been in the MCU yet?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to be canceled, I've never watched anything so horrible.

It is quite possible that the spin-off will be better than the original series, therefore!

Agent Carter was very enjoyable, I positively loved it.
