The X-Men in the past do all they can but they can't stop Legion from exacting revenge on Magneto!

    Synopsis

Twenty years in the past, time-displaced Storm, Psylocke, Iceman, and Bishop watch as fellow time-traveller Legion fights with Magneto above Haifa, Israel. Magneto is young and inexperienced; Legion seems to be toying with his target. Psylocke wonders if she can locate Charles Xavier telepathically. She does and finds him hidden away with Gabrielle Haller. Charles leaves Gabrielle and finds the fight to be too magnificent for words, as his vision of homo superior is laid before him in Bishop, Iceman, and even his best friend.

In the present, Professor Xavier discusses the possible end of reality with Lilandra. Angel laments that he has finally found someone to share a life with but she is tragically twenty years in the past. Gambit attempts to get closer to Rogue. Cyclops and Jean find that laughing is the best course of action as they watch the crystallization of reality slowly creep toward Earth.

Back in the past, Apocalypse awakens and is surprised that his time has arrived for conquest. Things are moving quicker than he had thought...

The fight with Legion is not going well. Legion lectures Magneto on the purity of Xavier's dream and vows that Magneto will not stand in the way. Storm directs Iceman to unleash, and he does so by freezing every molecule in Legion's body. He brings the boy back down to earth. Charles is shocked that this could be his son. Psylocke senses Legion's mind is still active, which proves fateful, as Legion unleashes a blast that knocks everyone back. He then grabs Magneto and prepares to drive a psionic knife into the man's head. Charles refuses to let his friend die and leaps in front of the psi-blade. He dies instantly.

The repercussions of this one act are immediately noticed, as Storm, Psylocke, Iceman, and Legion are whisked away, as their presence as themselves would never have happened without Charles Xavier. Bishop, a man already out of his own time, remains. Magneto weeps over the loss of his best friend.

All across reality, events are frozen in crystal. Reality shatters. It is the end.
