Special POINT ONE issue! START READING with this Point One issue! CELEBRATE the most dangerous birthday in the Marvel Universe when Wolverine's new girlfriend invites X-Men and Avengers alike to a surprise party for everyone's favorite mutant. Logan's birthdays has never been his favorite time of the year, but not even he could anticipate just how bad it could get. One thing is for sure-one way or another, blood will be drawn! Thrill to this stunning beginning of a whole new era for Logan…if he can survive the night!

On his way to what he thinks is a quiet evening with his girl friend Melita Garner, Logan comes across an abandon semi. Upon further inspection he deduces that some ate the driver's dog and drove the truck driver off into the Canadian wilderness. Logan, sadly, put his plans on hold and tracks down the driver and his two abductors.

Meanwhile in a cabin the abducted drive comes to, and meets one of his captures, Boyd Buzzard, a cannibal, that plans on eating the driver and using his bones as decorations. Just as things seem to be at their worst, Boyd's brother Bufford Buzzard enters the cabin with appears to be a dead Logan over his shoulder. The two brother argue over how to cook Logan, and while their attention is turned Logan's healing factor has time to take effect and he get the jump on Bufford. Logan cuts of the Bufford's hand, but before he can do anymore damage the brothers start bickering and fighting each other.

At this point Logan decides to act out of character and instead of killing the brothers he takes pity on them and takes them both to the local police station. He then heads to where he was going to meet Melita. What Logan never realized is that Melita had gotten all of Logan friends together to have a surprise birthday party, but because Logan was so late they all had to leave. Logan feels bad for missing the party and feels even worse when Melita reveals that her birthday present to him was his real birth certificate.

Meanwhile back at the police station the Buzzard Brothers are still bickering until the Hand comes to spring them out for some mysterious mission.

    Review: Wolverine #5.1 0

It's a surprise party for Wolverine! However, Wolvie is caught fighting some cannibals up the great white north! (Canada) Is this an issue anyone can pick up and read?   The Good I had a lot of doubts about these whole ".1" issues. It's supposed to be a place where any brand new reader can jump on and become a fan of a character. In a sense, this is true. Jason Aaron, who's been doing a great job on the current Wolverine series, really captures the essence of this character, and his writing...

Back in the ol' reviewing chair! Actually this is just my normal chair at which I always sit, but for the purposes of this review, it shall be the reviewing chair. So Wolverine #5.1 - the perfect jumping on point! Or at least that's how it's been marketed. Is this true? Can Jason Aaron write a birthday party? And is that cover remotely indicative of the content of this issue? We shall see, gentle readers.  First off, this takes place directly after the overly long Wolverine Goes To Hell arc that...
