    William Vance studied Fine Arts at Bruxelles and started working as a publicist and an illustrator before getting into comic books. One of his first works is acouple of Bob Morane issues during the Attansio period. 
     
    During the 60's he proves his talent drawing short stories written by Yves Duval for Tintin magazine. He also works on the series Howard Flynn, about a british officer, and on a western called Ringo. In 1967 he replaces Gerald Forton as the penciller of Bob Morane.
     
    He works on Bruno Brazil, Rodric, Bruce J. Hawker, Marshal Blueberry and Ramiro, but his biggest success is XIII. Since he got married, his work is coloured by his wife, Petra Coria, known as Petra Van Cutsem. 
     
    In 2010 he announces his retirement, due to Parkinson's disease.
