    What If...? #71

What If...? » What If...? #71 - What If the Gamma Bomb Spawned a Thousand Hulks? released by Marvel on March 1, 1995.

    Short summary describing this issue.

No recent wiki edits to this page.

In a parallel reality, the Gamma Bomb is fallen into the hands of the United States to be used in World War 2 against the nations of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Consequences awry as many Japanese die and others transform into Hulks- or Oni (demons)- as labeled by their people. They fall into a reckoning of their attack to the USA by invading it, nationalizing it to Japan, but not without adversity by Namor, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, The Howling Commandoes, and X-Men over the years to reclaim their nation.

Ian Edginton takes a unique take on alternate Hulk storylines into foreign territories exhibiting the consequences of war rather than expose a society of Hulks, which would proven more interesting. Taming the heroes of America abroad into repercussions of nuclear attacks feels unique, I would loved to seen more elaboration to the Mandarin-styled Leader villain, but the pale Jack Kirby styled art-work and the caption box commentary all make the story feel more like a documentary than a story....
