    General Notes

    As with all the other issues in this series, the title of the issue comes from the name of a Voudun "god", in this case the sky god, Damballah, creator of life. In the previous issues he was referred to as "Mr. D" and never seen, only heard pacing the floor in the attic of The Royale. In this issue he remains unseen although his presence is depicted as a resolution to the events involving Christian and his "deal with the devil".

    This is the start of her becoming who she really is - a sultry temptress- femme fatale! She is now becoming a voodoo witch - a standard procedure of being the exotic other but it works here. She invokes Erzulie and becomes the goddess of love who traps men with beauty and sensuality - classic femme fatale...
