John Beckman was a fan of celebrities that was more on the fanatic side. When celebrities would not respond to his personal letters, he grew resentful and hateful towards them. His ultra power developed and he learned he had the ability to create an exo-skeleton made of earth that enhanced his strength. He could also control the land.
As Turf, he attempted to kill Hardcase but it was too much for him to handle. Hardcase, together with Choice, defeated Turf and handed him to the proper authorities, who in turn handed him to Aladdin, the government program set up to handle ultras.
