Tito & His Burrito were an inseparable team consisting of a boy and his burro who had cute adventures.
While stereotypical by today’s standards their depiction wasn’t mean spirited.
They first appeared in a Screen Gems Studio cartoon released on October 30th, 1942 and titled Tito's Guitar.
After the war as the market for superheroes started to die out DC decided to get in on comics about licensed cartoon characters.
Unfortunately for them by then all the famous cartoon characters had been licensed out to other publishers, so they took on a set of Screen Gems’ cartoon characters that had appeared in only a few less than successful toons. These included Flippity & Flop, Fox & Crow and Tito and His Burrito.
Their success as DC would be more pronounced than is had been on the screen
