Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Bill Murray, Laraine Newman, and Gilda Radner comprised the cast of Lorne Michaels' New York-based sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live. Sadly, both John Belushi and Gilda Radner have since died, but the show enjoys continued success and still airs on NBC, albeit with a new cast. The issue in which they appear was written by Chris Claremont with art by Bob Hall.

The episode manufactured for this story sees Stan Lee as that night's guest host, with Rick Jones as the musical guest. John Belushi receives a teleportation ring intended for a J.B. Lu-Shi, whose offices are also at Rockefeller Plaza, where NBC Studios is located. The Silver Samurai arrives on the scene to retrieve the ring but is defeated by both the Not-Ready-for-Prime-Time Players and Spider-Man, who as Peter Parker, had been on hand with Mary Jane Watson [this story occurred years before the two were to be married] as an audience member. The Silver Samurai escapes with the ring, resurfacing several issues later with his frequent ally, the Viper.

Subsequent reprints of Marvel Team-Up omit this issue because Marvel no longer has license to use these characters.
