Pre Crisis

Nina Close was an oppressed and frail wife of a billionaire industrialist. She developed a split personality that was patterned after the bold explorer Fancy Framer and began to extort millions for her husband and the U.S. government. Her insane rampage did not end there. She stole Wonder Woman's invisible plane and trapped people in S&M style masks that would release poisonous hydro-cyano gas when removed improperly.

Post Crisis

The Mask is a gun-wielding villain. She was an abused wife who killed her husband and uses her new fortune to empower victimized wives and mothers.
