    Origin

    The Great Wheel was formed in 1961 when Leonardo da Vinci (calling himself Aries) summoned the leaders of the major world secret organizations to the secret Immortal City beneath Rome where the ancient version of SHIELD has its headquarters. He assembled them to go on several missions for him, obtaining secret artifacts.

    Creation

    The group was first seen coming together in Secret Warriors #25, written by Jonathan Hickman and Alessandro Vitti, although a list of members had been seen previously in Dark Reign: The List: Secret Warriors.

    Team Evolution

    The initial Great Wheel consisted of Aries ( Leonardo da Vinci), Nick Fury (Gemini), Dum Dum Dugan (Libra), Jake Fury (Scorpio), John Garrett (Aquarius), Thomas Davidson/Il Professore/The Professor (Virgo), Daniel Whitehall/Kraken (Leo), Baron von Strucker (Sagittarius), Shoji Soma (Pisces), Vassili Dassaiev (Capricorn), Viktor Uvarov (Cancer) and Cornelius van Lunt (Taurus).
