Jason and Glenda both return to Cornwall in an attempt to find Merlin and lift the curse. Jason opens the secret door which seals the tomb and confronts Merlin. When he refuses to separate Jason from Etrigan they use the musical spell to try and force him to do their bidding. Quickly though it is revealed that Etrigan was pulling their strings all along and now he is in control of the wizard. He leads Merlin to a grove full of hawthorn which is poisonous to him and when he dies the Demon is set free. Now separated from Jason and able to do what he likes Etrigan decides to let Jason and Glenda live before escaping. The closing scene is of Merlin being tortured in Hell.
