The Artificial Heart, Book III: The Climbing Boy last edited by gravenraven on 05/27/23 10:48PM View full history

Part 3 of the 3-part 'The Artificial Heart.' Tim, Molly and Marya are faced with the newly transformed Daniel, while Slaggingham lures the soulless Auberon into the undercity.

Sister Staylace takes Auberon, who is under her control, down to work on Slaggingham’s machines. We see that she has stolen thousands of souls in her globes, all stored underground.

Daniel attacks Tim, Marya, and Molly with his soot powers. Molly kicks him in the nuts. Marya gets on the sickly unicorn and rides off to safety.

Slaggingham meets the soul-less Auberon, and is thrilled to have a king working for him.

Daniel blasts Tim and Molly, but Tim absorbs it. Daniel falls, feeling like a failure in everything he does. He sees his reflection and realizes Marya would never want him like this. Tim tries to change him back, but the soot persona is his real persona now.

Slaggingham’s machine isn’t working as well as he wants, and Awn the Blink says he’ll tell him why. He explains that the whole idea makes no sense—you can’t steal happiness. Slag gingham’s cyborg body starts to break down along with his other machines.

Daniel agrees to take Tim to Slaggingham. They find him fallen apart. The sewers are flooding with his machines no longer working. Daniel, still angry at Tim, teleports out, leaving Tim trapped.
