    Story

    Fatal Fury

    The Geese Howard Era

Terry and Andy were orphans who grew up and had to survive in the violent streets of South Town before Jeff Bogard adopted the brothers. When Terry was 10 years old, he and Andy witnessed their father's death at the hands of Geese Howard. Knowing that they need more training in order to fight Geese, the young brothers swore an oath to spend a decade to improve their martial arts before they attempt to avenge their father. While his brother Andy left South Town to train in Japan, Terry chose to stay and wander in his home country, combining the skills he was taught by his father, Tung Fu Rue who was his father's teacher and the abilities he earned from the streets.

10 years later, the crime lord Geese Howard hosted a tournament, named The King of Fighters. Terry, Andy and the Muay Thai Kickboxing champion, Joe Higashi, would enter with the purpose of facing Geese. The battle that followed eventually resulted in Terry defeating Geese, and for some time, Geese was thought to have died in the fight but managed to survive the encounter.

The following year Geese's half-brother, Wolfgang Krauser took control of The King of Fighters tournament, and brought the once South Town-only tournament onto the world stage. The finals of this new tournament again resulted in Terry reaching the finals and fighting the sponsor and ultimately defeating Krauser. During this event, he befriended many of the contestants and became a hero of South Town.

The Bogards and friends eventually learned of Geese's intentions to retrieve the legendary Jin scrolls, Terry once again challenged and defeated him. After the fight, Geese has. Terry fought to the end of the tournament, defeating characters such as Yamazaki, until finally facing the Jin brothers. Standing now as the victor, Terry once again became the champion. However, Geese had successfully escaped with the scrolls. During the next game, Real Bout Fatal Fury, Terry managed to reach to the finals of the the tournament to Geese for one final conflict. At the end of the fight, he knocked Geese off the edge of Geese Tower with a Power Geyser, but grabbed hold of Geese's hand and tried to keep him from falling. But Geese, refusing to get help from a Bogard, knocked Terry's hand away, falling to what is believed to be his permanent death. Sometime after their final conflict, Terry encountered a boy by the name of Rock Howard, who is the son of Geese. To prevent history from repeating itself, Terry took him in and would teach Rock how to fight as they travel together around the world.

    The Rock Howard Era

When the Real Bout series of Fatal Fury ended, the story then goes on to Second South Town. Kain R. Heinlein, who grew up in Second South Town, claimed the city as his own and threatened to throw the local residents into chaos once more so that people could "enjoy living" once more. 10 years later, The King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem (hosted and sponsored by Kain) would go underway, and Terry and Rock were invited to take part of the tournament.

In Rock Howard's ending, Terry approaches the ruins of a mansion and finds out that Rock is now Kain's partner, and knows that he must trust Rock's decision to stay with Kain for a while. Terry then leaves them alone, realizing that Rock has finally left his den. After this, it is presumed Terry returned to his life of the lone wolf, leaving an uncertain future ahead. It is unknown whether Rock's ending is the canon ending, however.

In his own ending he wanders Second Southtown thinking about what Kain told him about the nature of humanity. He decides that life is "all about heart" and Kain was wrong.

    The King of Fighters

In The King of Fighters series, SNK used Terry's background story of Fatal Fury 1-2, where after he had beaten Geese and Krauser, he received an invitation to enter a new team fighting tournament called The King of Fighters '94. Ever since, Terry has been in a lot of installments as team captain of Team Fatal Fury. Though the team's roster has been changing throughout the years, Terry was always present, and is noted as one of the few characters to appear in every King of Fighters tournament thus far. He also has a rivalry with Ryo which is mostly exclusive to this series.

He was believed to have died during The King of Fighters 99 where he stayed behind in the collapsing NESTS's base. It turns out that Terry managed to survive the destruction of the NESTS's base. He didn't get in touch with any of his friends or loved ones until a year later. While he was absent, Terry tracked down NESTS's men who were targeting Mary. He decides to help her out in her job by letting her in his team in the 2000 and 2001 tournaments.

He organizes his teams with other members in the following years, asking Tizoc in 2003 and Duck King into the team for KOF XI. To catch up and to reunite the legendary trio of Southtown, he joins up with his brother and Joe once more in KOF XIII. Before their meeting, he had to survive a long journey back to the city and fell asleep at the station. He calls up Mary to give him a ride to Paopao Cafe, and he cheerfully shows up over 30 minutes late. His tardiness and usual attitude for any tournament disturbs Joe, who knows that he and Andy have their own responsibilities besides the tournament. Although Terry doesn't understand why his friend is upset, he spars with Joe in Paopao Cafe.

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact - Maniax

Terry, Mai Shiranui, Athena Asamiya, and Rock are enjoying themselves when they are approached by several figures, the one that catches Terry's attention is the alluring Lien Neville. Mai engages the blond assassin and throws some of her best attacks at Lien only for her to almost shrug them off and land a killing blow to her. Terry stops her and agrees to go to the meeting with Lien's boss.

    Appearance

For the majority of the character's appearances Terry has been depicted as young, long blonde hair (kept in a pony tail). He sports blue jeans, a pair of Chuck Taylor All Star Shoes, a white T-shirt, a red short sleeved jacket with a white star on the back, and a red and white baseball cap (something he goes through a lot of as he tends to throw them into the air a lot). He fights with his father's fingerless gloves.

In the last of the Fatal Fury games (and later King of Fighters Series) he has traded in his jean jacket for a brown bomber jacket that sports his trademark white star on its back. His hair is still long but his pony tail has been cut off. He still retains his father's fighting gloves. This is how he appears in the King of Fighters: Maximum Impact Manga Series.

    Personality

Terry Bogard is an incredibly attractive, happy and friendly man with everyone around him. He has no grudge towards anyone other than Geese Howard, his father's killer. His relationship with his younger brother Andy is that of respect, recognizing his younger brother as a potential rival. He feels a sense of kinship with Blue Mary for her loss, but doesn't seem to really want a real relationship with her. He treats Rock as his son, but lets him choose his own path in life. He teasingly calls Rock, "Rookie". Terry is also well-informed of what goes on in the streets.
