A heart attack during an intense race leaves Tony Stark a prisoner in the wreckage of his own vehicle and far too weak to pull himself to safety. Only the bravery of ex-Boxer Happy Hogan, who pulls Tony out before the car explodes, spares the playboy a grim fate. Out of gratitude, Tony gives Hogan a job as his personal driver, and later introduces him to his secretary, Pepper, whom Hogan falls for immediately, but Pepper makes it clear she only has eyes for Tony.

Returning to his factory, Tony dons the Iron Man armor and thwarts an attempt to pilfer his vault of secret projects. Tony is lenient and lets the man go, but lives to regret it as the would-be thief returns as Jack Frost, a super-villain with the power to freeze anything -- or anyone -- instantly.

Accompanying comics include: "I Come from Far Centaurus" (Lee, Lieber, Fox, Simek),

Spoilers ahead. So... everyone in the previous issues don't have ANY impact on modern day Iron Man but finally we get to meet some cool people of which I know will stick around. So both Hogan and Pepper are introduced in this issue. We also meet another new villain who is totally forgettable.. again. To be fair both Hogan and Pepper are delightful, Tony is still a moron who mentions Iron Man WAY too much, and Jack Frost is lame. Hopefully it picks up and some good villains are finally introduce...

It is oft surprising how long it takes for villains to appear in panel in Marvel comics of 1963. In this issue the titular villain of the issue, Jack Frost, does not make an appearance until page 14 of 19. Instead this issue works to fill out the supporting cast in Tony Stark’s adventures, something I think was long overdue and something I suspect they held out from doing to try and establish Stark’s playboy credentials. It is Happy Hogan to whom we are first introduced who pulls Star...

By far the most exciting and well told story in the Iron Man fiction to date, this month we see Stark at odds with a disgruntled employee with delusions of grandeur and megalomania who harnesses the power of ice and cryogenics to pose perhaps his biggest threat yet. I'm not sure what exactly happened between the months prior and this one but Bernstein has all of a sudden pulled two cats out the bag this month that have redeemed two series' that he had otherwise driven into the ground. Perhaps St...
