Blodwen Reese was taken against her will as a young girl by a geneticist named Oonagh Mullarkey who worked for Gena-Sys HQ. Mullarkey discovered that Reese had latent mutant abilities so she had her and four other teens with powers taken to her lab where she would wipe out their real memories. Mullarkey implanted false memories and personality matrixes into each child and boosted their own powers and abilities by altering their genetic coding. Reese would be given the codename Stinger after she discovered the ability to absorb various types of energy and release lethal bolts of energy from her hands. Reese and the other four teens would become the group Genetix where Mullarkey had plans to have them become operatives for the MyS-TECH organization.
Creation
Stinger was created by Graham Marks, Andy Lanning and Phil Gascoine in 1993 and first appeared in Codename: Genetix # 1.
Powers & Abilities
Stinger is capable of flight and can absorb various types of energy and store it to create energy shields or fire bolts of lethal energy from her hands for range attacks. Stinger can store a limited amount of energy before overloading but her bio-armor contains storage pods that allow her to hold a small amount of extra energy. If her energy storage is exhausted then it takes a few hours to recharge her energy levels.
