    Star Brand #1

Star Brand » Star Brand #1 - The Star Brand released by Marvel on October 1, 1986.

    Short summary describing this issue.

The Star Brand last edited by PtitMog on 07/17/20 08:32AM View full history

Young dirt biker Ken Connell is one day riding when he suddenly comes upon a blackened area of the woods. He sees an old man by his bike. The old man then gives him an incredible power he might not be able to handle.

There is a weapon in the universe more powerful than all others. No more coveted, feared, loved, or hated thing exist. Only a fool, or a madman--or the right man-- would dare possess.... The Star Brand.

He soon gets into multiple battles with a mysterious alien who thinks he should have the Brand instead. Even more difficult, he begins to try to figure out how this will change his life.

Note: The cover here is misleading as Ken (Star Brand) never actually goes into outer space himself in this issue.

I hate these quick-and-dry story lines. You know, when a writer rushes through explaining how a character came to be and/or got their powers. I think Jim Shooter did this in the first 4 pages. It doesn't help that the story itself is essentially a Green Lantern rip-off. Some random alien (who takes the form of a blind old bum) crash lands on Earth (specifically, the forest covered mountains of Western Pennsylvania). He then deems Ken "worthy" of a great interstellar power and just gives it to hi...
