Once a mercenary of Queen Elizabeth, fighting Spaniards in Africa, Kane meets the Devil's Reaper and discovers he is bound for hell!

Barely escaping, he soon renounces violence to atone for his past sins, seeking out redemption in a life of peace. That is until the followers of priest-turned-sorcerer Malachi kidnap a Puritan girl, Meredith Crowthorn, and brutally slaughter her family before his very own eyes (including butchering her beloved younger brother Edward who Solomon had befriended). Solomon is forced to take up arms and return to his violent ways once more to rescue her!

In doing so, Kane must return to his birthplace, England, and face his older brother Marcus, who (in his youth) he accidentally left disfigured (and for dead).

But Marcus now serves as merciless enforcer to Malachi. Will Solomon jeopardise his own soul by re-embracing his murderous talents for a higher cause?

Solomon Kane is a hack and slay actioner, and a story of redemption with the message: Sometimes violence is the answer. The film opens with piratical English soldier, Kane, chopping his way through a Moorish castle on the North African coast... "Dogs!" hack! slash! "Putrid heathens" etc,etc... But, a...

Solomon Kane (2009) directed by Michael J. Bassett from the US/UK/Czech/FranceSolomon Kane fans rejoice! Hello? Ah...well admittedly although I am one that's mainly because I'm a big fan of all of Robert E. Howard's works so although the author was quite influential and his Conan quite well known, his other characters such as Solomon Kane, El Borak, Bran Mak Morn, probably not so much. Anyways it took me a while to track down a copy but finally I did and despite the film being a fairly poo...
