    Origin

Smokescreen is a ironhard Autobot that will lay down his life to protect the week. During a battle with Megatron he did just that. Smokescreen was later rebuilt into a new body and renamed "Hoist". Along with his body came a new lease on life and a new resolve. Even tougher than before, he sometimes quips that nearly dying was the best thing that ever happened to him. His Mini-con partner is Refute.

An alternate-universe version of Armada Smokescreen was forced to engage in a death-duel with an alternate-universe version of G1 Smokescreen inside the shattered remains of Unicron. Both robots' minds were corrupted by Unicron, causing Smokescreen (Armada) to mercilessly kill his alternate-universe Smokescreen (G1). Smokescreen gained power from his fallen foe while Unicron fed on the defeated robot's released spark.
