Overview
Skull Squadron was the nickname of 1 Imperial Center Core Defense Squadron. It is an elite squad of starfighter pilots that flew TIE Predators. The squad served the Fel Empire before it was destroyed by Darth Krayt’s Sith Empire; they defected during the last stages of the Second Imperial Civil War and returned to the Fel Empire.
The squad was led by Gunn Yage who commanded a great amount of respect from her squad mates and it was commanded by her father, Moff Rulf Yage. The squad served the Sith Empire for almost the entire Second Imperial Civil War and was permanently stationed on Coruscant and had their own hanger, but they flew missions all over the Galaxy.
The squad temporarily comes under the control of Darth Rauder much to everyone’s dislike but she is killed during their defection.
Battles and Actions
Coruscant Undercity
The squad pursues Cade Skywalker, who is piloting the Mynock, through the area around the Sith Temple and has strict orders to capture him alive; it because of these orders that Cade is able to escape through the undercity. They fan out to search for him but they do not find him. Back at the hanger, they are yelled at by Moff Yage and go to a cantina afterwards. When cade escaped from the Sith Temple, the squad gets another chance to capture him but are called off by Moff Yage who is acting under orders of High Moff Morlish Veed
Operation: Thunderstroke
Operation: Thunderstroke was a plan by Darth Krayt and High Moff Veed to capture Emperor Roan Fel and his daughter Marasiah. To ensure this happens Krayt assigns members of the One Sith to lead the squads and gives the fleet, Skull Squadron included, new starfighters and Skull Squadron is now led by Darth Rauder. During the orbital battle around the planet Agamar the Skulls make short work of the Imperials they encounter. One Imperial pilot manages to eject and Rauder orders Captain Yage to kill him but she hesitates claiming it to be murder; when Rauder threatens kill Yage, Tev Rimon kills the man instead. They keep fighting and ultimately win the battle but Fel escapes and the operation is deemed a failure. This is the start of a highly antagonistic relationship between the Rauder and the Squad, particularly Captain Yage.
The Bombardment of Da Soocha
When the Sith Empire punishes Azzim the Hutt for helping shelter and smuggle Mon Calamari by bombarding and poisoning Da Soocha and its moon Napdu. Moff Yage is sent to do this and brings the squad as well, while flying in orbit around Da Soocha, the squad encounters ships attempting to flee the planet and Rauder gives orders to destroy them. Tev Rimon and Jae Akura protests as the ships are civilian transports and have no weapons but Rauder tells them to kill them anyway and the squad only does so after a highly reluctant Captain Yage tells them to follow orders.
Defection
During the Sith assault on the Jedi’s Hidden Temple, Skull Squadron is deployed and fights in the atmosphere of Taivas. During the fight, Rauder orders the squad, particularly Captain Yage to shoot down the Mynock because it is believed that Cade is on board and they are half-siblings. During Yage’s hesitation to make the kill shot, the Galactic Alliance’s Rogue Squadron shows up and damages Jae Akura’s and Brodie Coburn’s ships to the point that they must withdraw and this causes the rest of the squad to retreat as well because they were outnumbered five to three. During their retreat the squad comes across a ship full of Jedi Younglings and Rauder orders them to attack the ship and kill the children. Captain Yage finally has enough of the Sith’s cruelty and shoots down Rauder. She then announces hers and the rest of the squad’s defection to the Fel Empire; this causes her father and several other ships to defect as well, calling it the only honorable thing to do.
The Battle of Coruscant
During the final battle of the Second Imperial Civil War above Coruscant, Skull Squadron is back in their TIE Predators and fights for the Fel Empire alongside the Galactic Alliance’s Rogue Squadron. The two squads get along well and fight successfully for a time against the Sith Annihilators. Towards the end of the battle Tev Rimon gets shot down but is able to eject in time and Skull Squadron manages to end the battle without losing anyone.
