    The Lion King

Simba was born to Mufasa and Sarabi, the King and Queen of The Pride Lands. Next in the line for the throne, he was resented by his uncle an Mufasa's brother; Scar. As a young cub, Simba was always adventurous and courageous.

One day while out with his father, Mufasa gave Simba and overview of what land in Africa would become his once he passed away and Simba carried on as King. When Mufasa mentioned the dark area past the Pride Lands and how Simba should never go there. This only caught Simba's interest in the area and he ran to his Uncle Scar. Scar informed Simba it was an elephant graveyard. Scar was cunning, and new that he could convince Simba to go there by saying it was too dangerous for him. This made Simba even more eager to visit the graveyard.

After talking with Scar, Simba ran to his best friend Nala. Nala was a female lion, betrothed to Simba without their knowledge. Tricking their mom's into letting them go to the "water hole", Simba and Nala were disappointed to have the royal adviser bird Zazu babysit them along the way. But Simba and Nala were crafty, and managed to ditch him along the way to the graveyard.

At arriving at the graveyard, Zazu manages to find the two young cubs just as three hyenas find them too. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed aren't the most intelligent animals, but after a long chase have the three backed into a corner. Just when it seems all hope is lost, Mufasa jumps in and saves the three. On the walk home, Mufasa tells Zazu to take Nala home so he can talk with his son. He shares his disappointment in Simba. Simba tells him he just wanted to be brave like his dad, and Mufasa lets him know just how scared he was at the though of loosing his son. The gaze at the stars and Mufasa tells Simba something important that he will always remember. Mufasa's father told him that all the Kings from the past are up in the sky watching over them.

The scene switches to the Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed; all talking about how they hate lions. Just then, Scars walk into the scene and throws them some meat. This shows Scar is working with the hyenas, and that he is the movies man antagonist. A song goes on about Scars motives: to kill Mufasa and Simba and take the throne for himself.

Another change of scenes to another day, and Simba is sitting in a large gorge with Scar. While they talk it shows the three hyenas above the gorge with a large heard of wildebeest, and they talk about waiting for Scar's "signal." As Scar leaves the gorge, he tells Simba to stay and wait for a "surprise." After growling at a passing lizard, it shows the hyenas breaking loose and attacking the wildebeest; causing them all stampede towards Simba trapped in the gorge. Simba tries running, and Scar runs to inform Mufasa of the situation with fake concern. Mufasa jumps into the gorge and after much comotion, manages to get Simba out. However Mufasa is stuck, and after struggling to the top of a cliff he meets Scar at the top. Scar grips Mufasa with his claws, leans in and whispers, "Long, live, the King." and releases, sending Mufasa flying to the ground. After the stampede, Simba finds his dad laying motionless on the ground. He tries to wake him up, but curls under his father realizing he is dead.

Still in the gorge with his deceased father, Simba is approached by Scar. Not knowing that the whole situation was orchestrated by him, Scar convinces Simba that his fathers death was all his fault; and that he should run away and never return. Simba turns and runs just as the Shenzi Banzai, and Ed walk up beside Scar. His only words are, "Kill him." and they begin to chase off after Simba. The still running Simba stops and a cliff, where below is a slope filled with sharp thorns. But the hyenas are right behind him, and he jumps in; struggling through the sharp bushes. Finally he makes it out, and runs off towards the horizon. The hyenas stay on the cliff, too afraid to brace the thorns. They yell out, promising to kill SImba if her ever returns.

Flash to a new scene and Simba is seen laying motionless on the ground. He appears to be in a desert, heat reflecting off the hard dirt and buzzards circling up ahead. When the buzzards land and start poking at Simba, two loud voices scream from somewhere. Timon (a meerkat) and Pumba (a warthog) chase off the buzzards. The notice the lion cub and after debating decide to take him in.

The scenes following show Simba growing up with Timon and Pumba, and putting his past behind him. He does everything he can to forget what happened to him and his father. The trios main belief is "hakuna matata", which means "no worries". He grows into an adult lion and all seems well.

Timon and Pumba are seen walking in the woods, when Pumba strolls off to the side. Sniffing around, he comes face to face with a lioness. She chases him, and he runs for his life, screaming. He runs straight into a log, getting stuck with no way out. Just as the lioness gets dangerously, Simba appears and attacks her. They roll and fight until the pins him, and he realizes it was his old friend Nala. Overcome with joy, they explain their relationship with Timon and Pumba and then walk alone to talk about the Pride Lands. Nala tells Simba that Scar has taken over, that there’s no food or water and hyenas have overpopulated Pride Rock. She begs him to return, but unknown to her he is still too ashamed of his father’s death, and refuses.

After his argument with Nala, Simba runs off into a field. Questioning his father’s words of promised guidance, he suddenly hears a monkey (Rafiki) chanting. The monkey continues chanting, to Simba’s annoyance. Once the monkey mentions he knows Mufasa, he runs off. Interested, Simba follows him to a pool of water where he sees his father reflection in himself. This gives Simba the courage to travel back to the Pride Lands and challenge Scar.

At arrival of the Pride Lands, Simba is appalled at what his home had become. Nala, Timon, and Pumba had followed him back, to aid in retaking his throne. Once at Pride Rock, Timon and Pumba distract the hyenas while Simba and Nala look for Scar. Hidden from view, Simba witnesses Scar hitting his mother, and bursts to defend her. At first, everyone thinks Simba is his father, Mufasa. Once finding out he was Simba, Scar forces him to tell the entire pride it was his fault Mufasa was dead. The lionesses are shocked, especially his mother. Scar proceeds to push Simba to the edge of Pride Rock, shouting accusations. Once Simba slip and is holding on the edge, Scar attempts to push him off just like Mufasa. But before he does, he tells Simba the truth. He killed Mufasa. This gives Simba the strength to jump back up, and forces Scar to tell everyone the truth. This starts frenzy and lionesses and hyenas attack each other.

Lighting has struck the dry grass and a wildfire has started, surrounded Simba and Scar alone on a rock. Scar tries to convince Simba it was the hyenas fault, and Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed overhear him unknowing to either of them. Simba tells Scar he will not kill him like he killed his father, but commands him to leave and never return. Scar aggress, but once his back is turned he throws hot ash in Simba’s eyes, started a battle between the two. After some fighting, Scar leaps at the lying Simba, but Simba pushes him off the cliff. He lands in a group of hyenas, and trying to befriend them once more, they attack for his betrayal. This is the end of Scar.

After a rainfall clears Pride Rock of the fire, Simba takes his rightful place as king, next to Nala.

At the end of the movie, the Pride Lands are shown to be returned to their luscious state, with Simba as kin atop Pride Rock with Nala, Timon, and Pumba. Rafiki holds up another lion cub, Simba and Nala’s new offspring.
