When ITV bought the rights to air Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, a Polish/American joint venture based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes that starred Geoffrey Whitehead as the eponymous detective and Donald Pickering as Doctor Watson, Grandreams bought a license to produce a TV tie-in annual for the UK market. Unfortunately ITV's plans to air the series, which included adaptations of existing Holmes tales alongside brand new stories, fell through, so the show never aired in the UK, but Grandreams released their annual anyway. Unsurprisingly, no subsequent annuals were forthcoming.
