    Origin

    Roger Gocking is the second person to become the costumed criminal known as Porcupine. He would run into Colleen Wing and Misty Knight when the two ladies shakedown the Rascal Tavern where numerous costume criminals hang out. The two ladies beat down on some bad guys when they try to get answers on 8-Ball and Freezer Burn after they were killed for stealing a microchip from Ricadonna.

    Creation

    The second Porcupine first appeared in Daughters of the Dragon #3 and was created by Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray and Khari Evans. He is based on the original Porcupine who was created by Stan Lee and Don Heck.

    Major Story Arcs

    Civil War

    Porcupine and the Eel would come into conflict with members of the Thunderbolts when Iron Man asked Baron Helmut Zemo for assistance with the capture of super villains during the Civil War saga. Porcupine and the Eel battled Thunderbolts Field Team A which consisted of Mach IV and three people wearing different versions of the Beetle armor in San Francisco. After a brief battle, Porcupine and the Eel were captured by Abner's team. Porcupine agrees to register under the Superhuman Registration Act and becomes a member of the Thunderbolts instead of facing jail time. The Thunderbolts had to fight off cities filled with civilians who were suddenly empowered when the Grandmaster opened up the Wellspring of Power. The Thunderbolts army were broken up into numerous squads and sent to various locations throughout the world. The Chicago based squad consisted of Porcupine,Doctor Octopus, X-Ray, Unicorn, Quicksand and Boomerang which was responsible of maintaining order in the Windy City.

    Upgrades

    Porcupine would receive some upgrades from the Broker who was actually the former CEO of Damage Control, Walter Declun. Porcupine would be part of the Broker's army which included other villains like Mandroid, Carolyn Trainer, Hydro-Man and Absorbing Man. Porcupine and his fellow teammates would come into conflict with Shuri, Namor and members of the Fantastic Four when they invaded the Broker's island deep inside the South Pacific. Porcupine on his hovering disc would attack Shuri with his razor sharp quills. The quills penetrated the panther skin armor and drew blood, but Shuri knocked out the Porcupine with her energy baton.

    Doomwar

    Porcupine resurfaces as one of the Broker's mercenaries after Dr. Doom steals all the vibranium from Wakanda. Walter Declun aka the Broker is Doom's chief operative and has a number of his upgraded henchmen defend the vibranium that is hidden in the Palenque Ruins in Mexico. Porcupine, Armadillo and the Absorbing Man engage with the Thing, Invisible Woman and the Human Torch when they come searching for the stolen vibranium in Mexico.

    With Spider-Woman

    More recently, Roger became an employee of Spider-Woman. Roger become a hero in his own way, helping out on missions and becoming a good friend of Spider-Woman in the process. She even trusted him so, that she let Roger baby-sit her newborn child. However things seem to have taken a turn for the worse as Hobgoblin has gotten involved.

    After being believed to be dead, Roger was saved from Hobgoblin by Spider-Woman and the two begin a romantic relationship. A couple years later, Roger planned to propose to Jessica, but ended up breaking up with her instead, feeling that she was neglecting their relationship.
