Pink Floyd was formed in 1965 it consisted of university students Rodger Walters,Nick Mason,Richard Wright, and Syd Barrett. The group was a popular fixture on London's underground music scene and with Syd's leadership they realeased two charting single albums. In 1968, David Gilmour joined the line up but Syd Barrett however was removed for his increasingly erratic behavior. After Syd's leave Rodger Waters became the lyricist and dominant figure in the band, they acheived critical and commercial success with concept albums The Dark Side of The Moon, Wish you Were Here, Animals, and the Wall. Wright left the band in 1979 and Waters left in 1985. Gilmour and Mason (joined by Wright) continued recording under the name Pink Floyd. The band made more success like albums A Momentary Lapse of Reason in 1987 and The Division Bell in 1994. The band reformed in 2005 for what would be their final one off performance at Live 8.
